On the 26th I said enough was enough and tore into it. WOW what a difference! Runs like a new bike!
My clutch cable was A OK. Didnt feel the need to replace it and than it cracked and i had to get a new one. Now I just cannot believe how easy the clutch works.
A good opportunity to expand on your experience and pass this along. Often, cables that are otherwise low mileage and "well cared for" are actually in bad shape. They corrode internally from condensation cycles. This greatly increases their friction under load. Take them off and move them and they feel fine. Its the "under load" condition that proves it.
All the lube in the world will not fix this condition, only a new cable will. This is a function of age, not so much use. When it was 1990, our CBs were at most 20 years old. Low mileage was still meaningful as gross age was still within limits.
But at a gross age of 40+, low mileage is nearly meaningless, age, gravity and condensation rule.
