Custom Headlight Question, help needed.
« on: November 10, 2009, 06:44:34 AM »
I have a smaller custom headlight that I am looking to use in my build. The problem is that it doesn't have the nice big bucket for all of the wiring. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do with that nest of wires? Pics would be great. Thanks

First eliminate what wiring up top you can.

I run right side switch only, that means hand signalling, and no e-start, or e-start in horn button, and bulb horn, also you must run 72 or earlier rt side switch, has off/Hi/Lo for lights.

Then I run the wiring junctions under the headlight, fold some unused back, end up with a taped up lump around an inch and  1/8 or so in diameter.

Uh oh, what if I want all of that other stuff? Can anything be run inside the triple tree?

Run all the wiring to the coil area under the tank and only have what is needed run in the headlight bucket (light, turns).

im thinking about making my own harness to avoid the mess in the headlight bucket... im gonna get rid of the kill switch and starter switch to clean up the handle bars(well prob relocate) im prob gonna get some push button switches (one would have to be open and closes the circuit when pushed(for the starter) and one would have to be closed and open when pushed to kill it( i have a click switch i might use to complete the circuit. like a push button that clicks on and then push clicks it off).... depending on how much u can fabricate.. i have my eyes open for a box to hide some stuff (under the seat)... im thinking of using some copper tubing as some conduit for the wiring(the kind used for natural gas line)..... but the closer u can get ur wires to the source (Like the battery) the less wires  u need to run... just my two cents
