1972 CB750K2- $90 for O-Rings! --HELP--
« on: November 16, 2009, 01:23:13 PM »
Just overhauled carbs with 4 new kits-put it back together and now fuel just pours out of the 2 T shaped fuel fittings between 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 carb bodies. These each have 4 tiny O Rings (total of 8) my problem is that these little rings seem to be available only as part of a $22 gasket set and I would have to buy 4 sets :o and pay shipping (keep in mind that I just bought 4 rebuild kits that include all the gaskets that are in this kit EXCEPT the o rings). These ought to cost about 50 cents apiece.....any ideas???

i'll be into the carbs on my k2 pretty soon.

looked on the cmsnl parts fiche and found that these T-fitting o-rings are listed as 1.9 x 7.8mm

mcmaster-carr has metric o-rings of 1.9 width x 7.8 I.D.

if you can confirm that the O.D. where the o-ring is placed is 7.8mm, you can get 100 of these o-rings for $7.70

i tried both of the HF metric sets - nothing works, all the od's  are way bigger than the honda carb ones, even if you try to stretch em over with a smaller width, still wont fit into anything

Hal, what material were they?  If Buna-N, should be OK, Viton even better.  If Neoprene, you'll likely be pulling again to replace.

k&l has them but you will need a shop to buy them from (dealer only), make sure the seals you buy are proper material...joe

hal, you are most welcome kind sir  ;)

some time ago i needed some bowl drain "o"-rings, 1.5 x 4mm, and no one had 'em except in a kit.  so i got 100 for $12 (2 days also) and gave 40 to a friend of mine that works in a ma/pa type shop specializing in older rides.  still have around 50 in the tool chest.

both buna-n are standard, viton are available.

I've been using the 8x2mm O-rings in those fuel tees. I have some from Rocket Seals, just for that. If you contact them, they will mail order to you: I asked them about that a couple of weeks ago, and they said they do it all the time. They are about 50 cents each with shipping for about 10 or so.
