Mike,
The jet kit is part number 3315. Stage 3 kit for the carbs. Money is always an object when building a motor. The carbs were affordable to me and thusly to Sam. Yes, there always are better parts if you can afford them. Since the demands for a drag hondamatic isn't just like a factory setup for a production bike, there will be some tweaking with jets, needles, slide holes, etc. to make it work right. The carbs worked very well for me after installing the kit. The jet kit was installed exactly as the instructions stated. The kit worked well enough that I didn't do anything more than a jet change beyond it. I believe that the restrictors were plastic (white nylon maybe?). Yes there was a "seating" tool used to place them. I used the supplied glue to ensure that the restrictors didn't come off. I didn't add any sealant that wasn't supplied. With that stated, and readily verifiable, I don't understand the confusion?
Yes, I assume that many on the forums may have used CV carbs with jet kits years ago in non-SOHC 750 applications. The feedback on this forum recommending junking the carbs and going to parts yards for other carbs shows that they haven't had experience with the setup that I'm trying to get to work for Sam. Listening to the video clips after the carb cleaning didn't sound better to me. The runs down the track reflected what I posted in my last post. The bike is very rich on the bottom end.
I really don't want to keep looking back on this build. We've got a couple of days to make Sam's dream real. That's what I'm concentrating on. Sorry if I offended anyone about their Mikuni CV carb knowledge.

                                                                         J.Weeks  :(

I'm definitely not offended but now i'm highly educated to the workings of the CV carbs on a Hondamatic. I thank you for giving us a detailed explanation of how the kit is installed.I may try a set on my F model in the configuration you've described to see if they work better than the 36mm Flatslides that are WAY TO BIG for my engine. Somehow i've found a way make them work with the hand clutch since it offers better control over launch RPM's versus the Hondamatic thats reliant upon the stall of the modified converter.

I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend and hope to gain more knowledge from the Master of the Matics.

MR.WEEKS: I'M GOING WITH THE CV CARBS OFF OF A 1982 YAMAHA 750 SECA AND WILL USE THE DYNA JET KIT FOR THAT MODEL BIKE on my 1978 CB750A  and I do have 29's , 33's round slides  38,40 flat slides  and FBG 38MM  I also have a set of RC built 750 carbs bored out to 30mm and about 6 sets of stock CB750A and a brand new set of CV carbbs off of a 1982 KZ1000 that had 3,000 miles on motor.  Thanks for the insight on the CV'S working with the MATIC'S as my CM400A runs [ 200LBS. RIDER IN LEATHERS ]  17.67 et. at 77 MPH in 1320'  with the stock CV carbs and light spings. I race full on drag bikes with bars, boxes, sliders, throttle stops, slicks and 1500 cc motors and my "TURTLE"  gets them all crying and losing.  Starting with a stock 1978 750A  2-1 dual pipes and 52mm pods [ not KN'S ]  and will try to find the RIGHT MAIN jet for this combo in 2011.  Got a DYNO and the best BUSA SHOP in OHIO for all the next after stock runs are log in Race Pack.

POPS BK911 NHRA ST/ET
Over the winter I built a 450cc motor with ported head, big carbs and my own ground high lift cam ..............  waiting for the track to open before I switch engines.

??? Does this mean you guys have the carb problem fixed, and now you are having the bike creep forward with the throttle applied, even with the rear brake applied? If so, awesome!!!

That was just me Joking with Mike Scotty. We've made a few adjustments to the carb and it should be good to go.
We'll find out in a few hours, will post results as soon as we know.

Best of luck to youse guys, and have some fun. The most fun you can have is winning, so try to do some of that too, if ya get 1/2 a chance.
A personal note on the carb situation. Have no fear, IMHO the CV carbs ARE the way to go for this app. ONCE properly sorted. I saw this bike run, I heard in person how this motor sounds and believe me it will fly.
I raced an old "JUNKYARD DOG" KZ w/GPZ motor that had CV carbs with a two-step and once sorted it was deadly in race mode, ask Frank, I'm sure he remembers it.
With the master there to tune, it will be worked out.
Sam you're biggest problem will be controlling the beast at the line. Be ready to ride.
 Be safe and good luck.

Keith, i had forgotten about your adventures with the CV's and the end results. The carbs did work once sorted out. Yes, CV's will work but there was concern about THESE CV's at the time of testing. The CV Master got it all straightened out and the BEAST is now ready to be unleashed.

Will update you via cell from the ROCK tomorrow so you can post on this thread for us.

Best of luck to youse guys, and have some fun. The most fun you can have is winning, so try to do some of that too, if ya get 1/2 a chance.

Guys,
I'm way too tired to post this properly. (almost midnight)
I never could figure out direct photo posting. Sam got quicker. Bill got quicker. We aren't where we want to be. Still can't get the bike to pull enough rpm on the starting line. The bike isn't as rich on the bottom end as it was, but it still doesn't launch hard enough. We test and tuned from 6 pm till just after 10. Five passes. Four in the 108+ mph range and one in the 109+ mph range. It finally is predictable in it's et. (needs a little more gear) We ran a best of 13.6 something, but that was after dark in cooler weather than we will be running tomorrow.(or is it today already?) I tried some more initial advance that it didn't seem to like on the timeslip. We're still not certain due to a long wait in the staging lanes for a cleanup or two that might have affected the pass. We're going back with the timing to how we tested it on Friday.  I have more pictures and some good after editing videos that I will post when I can get some time on this computer. I'm really tired.

Thank's guys. I'm in the hot seat today with Billy doing it tomorrow.
As the motor loosens it goes quicker, I hope Jon can put his vast experience to good use and figure out the dial in on the day.
Although we didn't manage to cure the low end problem, I think that we have a race bike that we can put to good use, it's all about being consistent today.
I'm sure we will have fun as we continue to explore the autos potential and I'm looking forward to meeting the guys from the round the world tour relay and doing my bit taking Godzilla for a ride down the Rockingham 1320.
