I was dead beat last night and we all turned in early after a nice meal at the local Texas Steak House.
The bad news is, I let you all down and went out in the first round despite runing 13.94 on a 13.93 dial in.
Jon Weeks sure got the figures right despite the fact that the bike was running faster every run and right up to the eliminations, it was a hard call.
He even had to change it just before running when the temprature dropped a little.
Although I lost out, Jon and the crew were more than satisfied with my effort and coughed up $40 and paid for me to get back in.
In the next round I came up against another Busa and Jon Dialed in 13.82. I cut a .020 light but managed to out run the dial with a 13.78, again Mr Weeks right on the money.
Both the bike and myself were improving with every run and there is still plenty more to come. The MIKE RIECK motor sure is strong and ran a best of 13.486 at 112.29mph. The let down in the first round was down to me when I cut a slow light with .165, I'm not sure how happend as I had been in the zero twos and had a best of .014 just the run before.
One thing to remember is the fact that I'm a Sprinter, not a drag racer so all in all I was quite pleased with my effort.
On a funny note, something I learned after it was all over was that I had caused quite a big betting frenzy in the stands with every body wanting to bet on the English dude on the Samatic.
Real nice meeting all the relay riders and Godzilla was strapped to Samatic for a blast down the strip
Must go, late for breakfast.
Sam.
