Pretty much as she looks now, execpt the new 550 motor isn't in the picture. But you get the idea. Sidecovers deleted, battery shrunk to a a123 and after trying out pods went back to the stock airbox, I kinda like the way it looks in the frame without the electronics in the way and they work better than the pods by a bunch.

So what has happened lately? The 550 motor is in and I dropped a 650 cam in after. The problem being the tach would no longer work. So the answer was an Acewell 3200. I've been reading about and watching a lot of MotoGP this winter so a modern dashboard with wires coming out of the front appealed to me. And it's tucked pretty low. You can't even really see it in the bottom picture. Probably not everybodys bag but hey, works for me. I added an aluminium breacket for my oil sensor and neutral led's. The electronic tach is awesome, no bouncing and seems very acurate, speedo seems good as well but I'm thinking about attaching my old cable drive speedo temperaraly to make sure. I also drilled and tapped my breather cover for a temprature sensor. I like all of these gizmos! The backlit blue led screen is also very readable in both day and night time. No complaints really.



As she looks now. Deleted my air box  :o But adjusted the carbs. 120 mains, needles all the way up and the 650 cam, very smooth through the whole range. Very happy.



Not sure about the grey I painted my points cover. It's all I had in the shop at the time. Might go black again, but it is growing on me...

Looks great!  I'm sourcing a tank like that as well.  Did you use both petcock bungs?  Did you have clearance issues with the carbs or the ignition coils (based off the mods it looks like the carbs we an issue)?

 I did use both to start with. Now just one. Didn't have any clearence problems, but it was close. So I deleted one and cut the tube shorter on the remaining one and put a "t" in the fuel line. No issues with the ignition coils either. Maybe it depends on what the tank was originaly for. This one came off of a Norton Commando.

Me likee.  Replace or grind down that top triple and the top would be complete.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Very nice job! One question though: why change to the 550 motor? Are there problems with the 500 powerplant?

@HedNut It's a Rickman tank off a Commando :)

@Pat The 550 and the 500 have the same top end horsepower but the 550 has more mid range power, the clutch is stronger and my 500 was pretty worn out. 50,000+ miles and the last 25,000 were pretty hard ones, #3 rings were going.

I agree, it's a softer, more organic look.  Curvy versus the hard perfect circle of the 500 cover.  It definitely gives the bike a more stylish look.

 Do you have any idea what it is? The mufflers are HD sportsters, but when I wrapped the exaust I didn't take the time to look for a name or any markings. I know the pipes have a bigger id than Macs by a long shot...and each side is a two piece, but otherwise no idea.

Sorry, meant the mufflers were the same. I've got stock headers with a 2-1 piece in-between. I was curious as to what kind of pipes you had though. Guess we'll find out when the wrap fades and needs replaced!

I guess I need to re-learn how to post things from flikr. Things are once again on the move for Anna.

Top triple ground and polished
Swing arm braced and now has a chopped front fender as a hugger on it..
Dynoman 592cc 10.5:1 pistons at the machinists shop as I type.
Old 500 motor temporarily back in.
I have began fitting a full fairing.
Seat is going to be modified.
Nissen master cylinder.

Still riding her every non rainy day.

I'll try and post some pics later tonight.

The Fairing. Just fooling around with placement, it still has to go up at the back. Also planning on cutting some of it away, hence the green tape.


Braced swing arm moments away from welding...


Braced swing arm with hugger bracket welded on and fender attached. Handles really well, I would highly suggest this.

When I first bought this bike all I really wanted to do was paint the tank, put a bump seat on and keep the clubmans. I think this is called project creep....
