Neat Video of the Inside of your Four Stroke Engine Running
« on: November 29, 2009, 08:44:47 PM »
Always wanted to see what really went on inside a four stroke engine while it was running. This is really a cool video of the four stroke process.

That is some incredible footage.  I'm a little confused by it though.  It does not look like that entire film came from one single intake/compression/power/exhaust revolution.  It looks like a single picture was taken from hundreds of different strokes, as if the camera was put on a delay to capture a slightly more advanced location of the piston on each ensuing engine revolution.  The only reason I say this is because I didn't see continuity of the incoming air flow or the flame front of the combustion.  It really looked like pictures from different intake and combustion strokes.

Damned neat though, not trying to rain on your parade.

It just scared me straight-up....'cos last time I saw a small round thing moving/pulsating there was 18 years of raising attached to it.. !!!!
AND the female owning the footage could prove it was my fault/ownership..........!

Those guys are British... they procured the model from its maker. I enjoyed the videos. I wish they would capture each major component movement through an entire cycle instead of jumping around like they did.

I meant to comment on this earlier - the video is not complete and it's only part of the 4 cycles re-played over and over - same footage. Notice that when the mixture fires and the piston is forced down - you see the exhaust valve open, but you never (not once) see the piston return to the top to complete the exhaust stroke before it jumps to the same intake footage. The video starts right over at the same place- the intake and just plays over and over - not continous action.

It caught me as odd and certainly not footage of 4 complete cycles.
