after a little thought getting her started is a good idea and then build from there.... i would turn the screw at the bottom of the carbs( near the bottom nippleor maybe a hose) to check and see of any gas drains out... if none does thats good.... take a little bit of starting fluid and while trying to crank her up(you'll need a charged battery it needs electricity to start kicking or elecrtic start).... just a little bit and see of she sputters..... that will let u know ur getting spark.... add a little gas and see if she fires up if not u prob need to rebuild ur carbs(prob should any way just so it done and over with and out of the way) unless u have some unforeseen problems.... u should get a couple of rides out of her if its not already too cold

My 750 had been sitting against the outside of the house uncovered for 2-3 yrs before I got it, throttle cable was stuck, engine was froze, but some PBblaster in each hole and some patient wiggling back and forth finally freed it up and it runs great now. Since yours isn't froze, and was running when parked, you're way ahead. Once you get it fired up, add some motor flush to the oil, let it run til it's hot, then change the oil and filter, and I'd recommend pulling the pan off the bottom to look for deposits, very cheap insurance and you don't want to run 10yr old oil. Then the fun begins. My guess is you'll ride it around, get to like it, and never have time to take it apart.....

 If you're really new to riding, it would also be a good idea to take a safety course first, and then test ride everything you can get your hands on, experience is the best teacher. Just always remember it is extremely easy to be over confident, and over confidence can kill you, and you'll be OK as long as you watch out for the cars. Best of luck, and More Pics!

She's already put away for the winter, snow on the ground two cars parked in the garage leaves me no room to do anything over the winter unfortunately. I would love to working on it right now. Though over the summer I threw a little battery in it and I'm not sure what I was seeing but my mechanic friend took a screw driver and contacted to points and the back tire did a little spin for me and something was definitely happening, sounded like the starter was giving it a go.  But like I said one of the spark plug cables is broken so there wasn't much hope for a start there.

And unfortunately no rides, snow and its -10celcius right now.

yeah the throttle cable is broken... along with any other cable, wire or piece of hardware that isn't the motor or the chain.  I'll add those tips to my "Do" list.  And I'll chalk up "over confidence" to the "Don't" list.

well search is ur friend here... u can find ways to use new cables and put them in old coils( i dunno if that is a good idea or not, could be ok) i think u should consider a partial tear down to get to ur carbs... if ur gonna have apart a couple months..... rebuild em... its the most common problem and might as well have them nice and new inside.... read the tips and tricks thread as well as the FAQ for tons of helpful info
