I have thought about motocross-type bars, the ones with the brace. I'm gonna see how these bars feel once the seat is bolted up and upholstered (black foam mat) and the footrests are fitted.

Today I plan to get some wiring connected  ???

I really love what you're doing with the bike, not my style, but like it a lot. Think a set of 'scrambler'-looking pipes would finish it off. No criticism, just a thought.

Yeah I'm happy with the way it's turning out, but it's good to hear comments from others. None of my buddies are into bikes so I'm working in a bit a vacuum when it comes to how others feel about my progress.

I know what you mean about the pipe - it's no exactly 'retro'. But I also like the simplicity and light weight of the carbon can. What would be really cool would be the chrome straight pipes, like they fitted to the BSA Spitfire Scramblers - two down either side!  8)

Color is awesome!! Lotta dirt bikes have low pipes, but a pair of "CL" style pipes on each side would be uniquely cool too, and the mx type bars would really give it the scrambler/enduro look. Great looker no matter what you do at this point!

Right, after some delays I have finally fitted the CRs, throttle cables and filters.





Have decided to add another colour to the tank/seat and then get the clear coat on before winter sets in. Then it's max concentration on getting the motor running for the first time since rebuild.  ;D

Friggin awesome.Carpy had some really cool scrambler type pipes on one of his cafe's a couple of years ago.He sold em on Ebay and they only went for about $300.If I would have known I would have bid on em.He probably still has pics of those pipes on his site.If I had the means I wouls have a pair custom built.

Looking amazing.

I agree that scrambler pipes would be the right look for this build (it was my first thought when I saw the roller), but that has to be difficult to manage to wrap that around the wide I4 motor.  You usually see that style of exhaust on I2's.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I'm gonna stick with this 4 into 1 and 'arrow' race can, for now. Big weight saving ....... and very BIG sound  :o



But I'll probably get started on some high-level 2into1 pipes sometime soon.

Stick with the 4 into 1 beveldrive, sounds much better and is lighter as well...

Thanks for the positive comments guys. The frame is spray painted. I have a gun and a small compressor, nothing fancy, and the paint was just what I had on the shelf. Volkswagen 'Polaris Silver', if my memory serves me well. :D

Great build you've got going on BD, I've found so many references to it in other threads that I finally made time to read through it in one sitting. (thankfully I didn't wait until it was 10 pages...) Your paint scheme triggered a memory of a Suzuki RL-250 trials bike my brother had in the 80's. I wonder if it had inspired you at all?  Either way here's a you-tube walk around of one, maybe it could inspire an idea or two with it's high pipe, glossy seat and hole riddled frame gussets and brackets...among other cool touches.  (yes it really did have a right side kickstand on the swingarm...)

Nice Suzuki Alan. I guess my inspiration comes from the big scramblers from the mid sixties - the Norton/BSA/Triumph - the stuff I grew up with here in the UK.
Been doing a bit on 'the scrambler' this weekend; oil tank, rear brake, kickstart, exhaust and fuel cap. Oh, and I added a band of metallic dark grey along the tank and seat. These now need clear coat to complete and the addition of miscellaneous decals.









Have some sleel studded foot rests in progress, hope to get them MIG'ed up and painted tonight.

Man, i love how this bike is turning out. I would change 2 things if it were mine though, first i would lower the seat section so it lines up with the tank, even if just the padded section and second would be to have some scrambler pipes made up, like the Triumph ones but 2 either side, heat shields and all..... ;D   Never mind the rambling....its still very cool... ;)

Not a lot done,  but have shortened the exhaust system a bit and I think it now looks like it belongs! Also fitted the scrambler foot pegs
