It's a lot like looking to buy a rear engine dragster, My mentor in the racing world said to look at cars in the northern states, they usually have fewer runs due to the shorter race season. Same with these bikes, they get put away for the long winter and when they won't run in the spring, some people just let them sit. The nicer the bike the more likely they will keep it around even if it doesn't run. My 75F sat unused for 18 years. It's parts bike was inside a bush and covered with rubber mats, I couldn't see it from 5 feet away! The bikes in the warm climates show us just how many miles can be put on one kept in service and maintained properly.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Let's see...my 1970 K1 just turned 25,000 miles ( daily rider ).
The K8 I'm 'restoring' ( to working cond. ) has 16,000 miles and the K4 parts bike ( no title ) has 43,00 miles....
All are CB750's....Oh and, Sweetie's CB650 has 32K........can't forget that!!
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Maybe so, Andy.  I've had my 750 in some interesting places, but your Mexico ride tops all the miles commuting on my 750 for quality miles.  Not to mention the Alps...
