... in fact,  I did that particular dirty deed on the concrete, with inadequate lighting, being flanked by two other motorcycles on either side of me; like being stuck in a small elevator in between two fat men. Unpleasant, but workable.

Brilliant... I like where your head's at! (as I head back into the crevase which is my garage)

you're quite a writer. I thought I was wordy. I love it, but some pics to go with would be nice. less 'Ulysses', more 'graphic novel'.

but I dig James Joyce AND Stan Lee.

Since I'm not getting paid for this gig, I get to choose the format! :D
I choose wordy and melodramatic. It's the only way to cruise!

Well done.. Its always a pleasure to read you mini books. You do have a way with words. Thanks for the pic's they are all great looking bikes. The blue on buellosaurus is outstanding. Do you have any issues now that Buell is no more? The CB is shaping up just wonderfully.

Well done, and thanks!

No different issues than I've already had;
1) Harley riders, owners and most dealers hate them with a passion, passing them off as the red-headed step child;
2) Buell stopped production of the "tubers" (tube-frame bikes) in 2002 in favor of the XB platform of bikes, thus changing the whole parts hierarchy;
3) Harley has promised (cross their filthy little hearts!) to support the current Buell line of bikes for the next seven years....and I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you, too.
Thanks to aftermarket folks like Al & Joanne at American Sport Bike, http://www.americansportbike.com/
aftermarket and performance parts are still readily available. And thanks to the scads of neanderthal troglodytes who insist on butchering Buells and turning them into "custom chopper-bobber-lowrider" morphodites, there is no shortage of chassis parts on eBay.
I'm not worried.

Well that is good to know. After all HD's idea of support is really a laugh, so even if they hold to it you know not to expect much. Maybe it could be a collectors item one day.. who knows..

Well off to put the bike away.. had it out tonight.. great riding weather..

ROTFLMAO!
That is SO true!
Erik is one hell of a guy; I've exchanged a few emails with him over the years; a truly brilliant engineer in his own right. I'm not worried about him. He's like a cat. He'll land on his feet, lean & mean.
In the mean time, he's left a legacy of brilliance behind him that would be hard to equal.
Not to mention a band of loyal followers (myself included)..... ;D

Well put and I agree.. Pairing with HD was a good first step, can't wait to see what he does next. However HD has discontinued a couple of his motor designs (I have no idea why) and that has left companies like MAC scrambling to find a new 500+cc 1 cylinder motor (thumper I believe they are called) there were like 3 companies that committed to buy these motor's and HD canned them with no real good reason, I am sure its some accounting thing they just have not said.

Enjoy your Friday my friend!

HD has MV Agusta on the auction block as well. They never should have bought it in the first place, and looked after their own (Buell) instead.
I have absolutely zero respect for them over their irresponsible actions. :-\

Forward. I intend to hang on to my Buell as long as I can. HD has chosen to euthanize Buell rather than let any of Erik's innovations leave the fold....a "dog in the manger" syndrome if I've even seen one. Why would a company who professes no interest whatsoever in, um....sportbikes...jealously keep technical innovations from the man who engineered them and brought them to fruition? Cuz their big, fat, lead sled managment folk are afraid he might steal away part of their precious market if they let him. Little do they know he could (and) can design a whole new machine from scratch on a napkin in a restaurant. He's not done; not by a long shot. Mark my words. ;D

Yup you nailed right on the head. I spoke with 2 top brass at HD when the place I was working for went to HD headquarters to talk business and I found them arrogant and to be ass holes.. I was not alone in this, we all felt that way. After talking to a couple of shop workers I found the company has an image and that is all they care about. Not to say others (Honda, Yamaha etc..) are not the same way, but at least they don't pretend to care and or have a family image and then don't. I agree, Eric is gonna come back strong if he can find the backing.. With the economy still kinda iffy it could be a little while.

Just my 2ยข worth.

Update:
Not much time to work on the li'l CB the last couple weeks, as we've had a houseful of people. Relatives from the left coast, and my son and his fiance on leave from the Army. My son and fiance left this morning, and the leftcoastals are filtering back a couple at a time.
The reason I mention all this, is that one of my son's buddies came by to visit & chat. Long story short......he likes the CB and might be interested in buying it. I would hate to sell it short of a completed restoration, especially with all the sweat-equity & love I put into it, ......but money talks and bull$hit walks. We'll see if we're talkin' or walkin' over the next couple of weeks. At any rate, by the end of next week all the relatives will be gone and...."we now return you to your regularly scheduled program" ;D

So, the "money talks" kid comes over tonight and asks if we still have a deal.....wants to put some money down over the next week or two and then make payments until it's paid off, at which time I give him the bike & title. Sure, I say....consider it yours; but I still haven't seen a dime yet. He's got a little Rebel 250 he's got up for sale; thinks he has a buyer, and plans to use the money from that as a down payment. We'll see.....
Suddenly I'm up to my ears in project bikes! A buddy of mine calls me Friday and asks if I want a free GS1000....... :o

Hmmm...It's been three weeks since the Money Talks kid was here with no word...and no down payment. The GS has been pretty much reduced to a pile of scrap iron, and so, the lift is free again. So, tonight the Li'l CB rolled back up there while I wait patiently for money to finish it. This is the LOGICAL choice; it's the closet to completion of any of the bikes and by far the nicest looking. It really is close; I need a couple jets (that I mangled getting out), four carb kits, a shift shaft seal, battery, and to flush and clean the tank and petcock, then throw the chain and front sprocket back on, blast and paint the pipes and.....should be ready to run. Once it get it purring, I'll paint the tank and side covers and...done!
Honestly, had I not run out of cash, this thing should have been done before the end of June. I'm actually amazed at how much I did get done in a short time span without any money!
So, pictures and progress reports should follow soon! ;D
