Some SOHC 4 inspired paintings/ screenprints
« on: December 13, 2009, 04:42:33 PM »
About 6 months ago I found a 74' cb550 sitting in some bumkins backyard.(rat lived in the bikes seat, mud dogs in the cylinder fins, tons of fun) Ever since then I've been inspired by SOHC4 and all the bikes I see on here, proving these old Honda 4's dont have to sit and rot for the rest of their lives. Going from knowing nothing to rebuilding the bike from the ground up was a huge undertaking and I couldn't have done it without this site. Im a senior at the painting and printmaking department here in Richmond, VA when I'm not sweating, stressing, and swearing over my bike. The whole process has inspired a lot of my work, and I wanted to share it with some rad dudes who could appreciate it as much as I do.

Ill post some pictures up of my bike when its not piss for weather outside

Very nice work!  I am not alone in thinking the motorcycle can be a serious art form, and I think the SOHC is an especially artful design.  You should check out my girlfriend's website. She's going for an MFA in printmaking and this summer she did a series of woodblock prints of old motorcycles.  It's great stuff.  You can see them on her Etsy page (link in my signature).  She may have them on her website as well: http://juliannegadoury.com/

If you do a run for sale. I'll buy one of every piece!
Very nice artwork.

Being that you're only a senior though. I'm only paying senior prices.   ;D
Haha.  JK.  I do have a number in my head, but I won't announce it here.   ;)

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Im glad you guys like the work! I got a lot of time on my hands this christmas break so if you guys are interested, I would be more than happy to make a few paintings or prints for anybody who wanted one. It would go to a great cause, my 550. Its what I spend most of my time and money on anyways.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
