Replacing plug caps on coil wire?
« on: December 28, 2005, 10:55:40 AM »
Hey Folks,

Need your help and advise. My plug caps for cylinders 2 and 3 are trash and need to be replaced. I searched the local auto parts stores for something that would work with no luck. Can anyone advise me about where I can get replacement caps so I don't have to replace the entire coil setup?

Thanks a bunch for the reply.

Look under "Electrical" - "Coils" - "Coil Accessories".  They're ~$3-4 each (NGK brand) depending on which ones you need.  There's a long list of vendors in the FAQ section, this is just one of them.

The plug ends screw in. It is best to nip off a bit of the tip of the wire befroe screwin in the new caps. Just a bit so the screw goes into cleaner copper.

Dusterdude;

What is the phone number to the local dealer you mentioned. I'll see if he has any left in stock.

thanks

At my local Honda stealership, I got 4 NGK caps for about $12.  Just make sure you get the correct Ohm resistance (mine were 5 ohm, or kila-ohm - I forget).
