Hey Wannaberidin'...and folks.  Update!  The kit just arrived in the mail this morning,  I have some machine shops lined up to visit this weekend with it, and as soon as I get some figures from them...I'll pass them on to you! Hopefully next week!!

Will do! Thanks guys... the more I can get together the better deal I can get on the kit machining with a batch order.

I am in the midst of touring the shops...and waiting for quotes.  Hopefully some costs will start rolling in this week.  And we can get these going!

sounds awesome!!  hednut, did you have someone weld in your kit?  if so, how much did you pay for it? 

hopefully we can get these kits pretty economically, ANY idea what you think they'll cost?  they don't seem like they'd be THAT much for machining

Hey Wannab... I haven't actually installed my kit yet... but when I do I'll be welding it myself.  Not sure how much it would cost to get somebody to do it??    And as for the kit....I got 2 quotes back so far...and I'm very disgusted...they are CRAZY to expect that somebody would pay so much for so little machining....I'm not even going to say how much it was....quite embarassing I think.  
  
As for cost....What do you think is a Economically costed Gordon Frame Kit??  

I still have 8 machine shops I'm waiting for quotes from,  and I'm still talking to others....let's just hope the pricing gets WAY better.

My 2 cents: Having actually put my hands on a kit, and having some experience with machine shops, I don't see how they could do it for less than $200. Gordon's price was simply unsustainable.

But as you say you've still got some quotes to come in so maybe you'll score.

I remember reading a poster here saying he had a machine shop install it and that was another $200.

It is a well laid out piece of work and worth some money, but may be more than many will pay.

In my humble opinion, $400 is a bargain for a quality mod that gives the ability to pull my top end without removing the engine. If the kit cost under $300, I'm happy.

Ooo...I just got back the mother of quotes.... this one is NUTZ! I had to post it... 7 more to go though.... $909 for a single kit...and $611 if I buy 10.     The guy told me that most of the cost was set-up and doing projects like this is more of a hassle than profitable for their business HENCE the HEFTY price..... I said "HASSEL!?!?....it looks to me like you're covering your "hassel-costs" nicely....  
  I need to find a back-yard machinist.....the search continues...

Just kidding guys. I told ya'll when I made my 2nd one that I was helping out an old friend who needed to supplement his retirement. I knew he was happy to have the extra, but also knew he is as honest and hard working as anyone I've ever met. Give Brendan some time - he'll find someone that is interested in making them at a fair price. My good friend has retired all together and without helping him, I no longer have any desire to make them. We need someone like Brendan to take over.

Hey Guys.... I'm working on it....or rather...the machine shops and I are...ahah   I'm down to a price that I can sell them @ $350 plus shipping (quoted $345 at a shop 35 miles from my place...covers gas & hardware)..... but I'm not done yet.  I'm hoping somebody can make it for $150 less than them!   My goal was to sell them at Gordon's price....... like some members are saying.... that seems to have been quite the Bargain!... we'll see...

well that sounds like a much better deal than $350!!  maybe i'll talk to some of the guys at my new job, they have access to some really good machine shops for shop work, maybe i can get a quote or two from them, just to compare.

hednut, if i got the plans, i wouldn't care about money at all, i'd just help you out getting quotes.  there's some other places i know of down in the Dallas area, i can get some quotes from them too, if you'd like the help?

Really appreciate it, and I just may go that way and get you to try your hand with the shops down there...if the rest of my quotes don't work out!... but I visited with 3 "small" shops yesterday... and it seems I should be able to get the pricing down quite a bit more!  I'm working my ass off here! And it better pay off....ahah....I really wish I had the tools in my garage....I'd love to turn em' out myself.     Hang in there guys....it's only been one day.

It is no secret, but IMHO talking prices on a fourum is 'not done'. Certainly do not want to upset anybody who want to keep these SOHC's alive! Like I said it is the shipping that kills the price. OK for once will name a price here. "Estimate" the price (ex shipping) at around USD 225.00. Some small changes over the original from Gordon.

whatever the cost is, it's well worth not having to pull your motor when degreeing your cam, or re-torquing head bolts, or those pesky cam tower "pucks".  lord knows mine paid for it'self the first time i had to take the top end back apart.

Oh cool!  What are Rob's unique products??  Where can I find these....I'd love a peek!  I'm going searching...

I just got another quote back...getting down to where I want them  (still $100 to go)  But if I buy 5 at a time, I can sell them for $250...I'm pretty sure I can get it lower....hopefully at the most $200 or lord willing less than that.

And I appologize...I didn't know talking prices on a forum is not done....

This is the deal then.... I will stay hushed about the pricing until all my quotes come in and I've exhausted my resources... I have 10 places that have yet to get back to me...and I have a good feeling about a few.    Once I do get a solid bottom figure... I will post in the FOR SALE section.

I bot his double sided rear motor mount for my project with the stainless motor mount bolt.

I try to buy from forum members when I can. Particularly the "wow" stuff.  Lots of talent here.
