Nice work.. I was out sick this weekend so did not get much done one the bike or anything else. I know nothing about those stabilizer bars, but shouldn't be on the tube that is on the same side as the mount on the frame? That said...

I saw the pick below and thought of your build right away.. Is your bike getting out while you are not looking?

Scott,

I tried out the stabalizer and it works just fine.  Most guys attach it to the bottom tree......I decided to use the fork mount, which was made for a Yamaha XS 650...which happens to also have 35mm forks.

Yeah, looks very similar....but I would remember the girl, trust me!

I didn't think of his bike RIGHT away when seeing that pic, but eventually I noticed what you mean....

Like I said I know nothing about those stabilizer bars.. Its looking mighty fine, puts mine to shame.. Also makes me think I went a bit too far taring it down completely.. oh well.. Can't wait to see it on the road man!!!

Well, my tank emblems finally arrived from Thailand.  I thought they were repro's...but they are original badges, that have been restored.....not only that, it was wrapped in this:

And was in a sealed plastic bag.....could they be original NOS stuff?

Here are the badges

I dunno, but hard to believe they would've gone to the trouble to find out what Honda wrapped their parts in years ago.   Plus, a LOT of those bikes stayed in Asia back then, more than were exported to America for sure.

Here are the badges...mounted up.....I will get some bolt heads, and glue them into the holes.  I used 3M double sided tape to attach them to the tank.

Hey, not sure which of 3M's double-sided tapes you used, but this stuff is fantastic.  I use it for case windows in computer mods.

Thanks, guys.

I used the 3M Heavy Duty double sided tape made for automotive use on the badges.

Those badges are slick - you've got a good eye for design.

Went shopping.....bought new sprockets and a nickel chain (530 size).  The rear sprocket is a stock 37 tooth, but the front sprocket is a 15 tooth instead of the stock 17 tooth.  Should help the little 550 get rolling a tad bit quicker. ;)

You may wish to pickup a extra spare rear tire, I think you may need it! ;)

Is that a Tsubaki chain?  All the ones I'm seeing are O-ringed.  Didn't think the 550 would take a 530-sized o-ringed'ed chain w/o damaging the cases.
