OK so sometimes I look fondly at the line up of shiny new machines the guys at work have bought, all under warranty, serviced for them, they don't think twice about taking them for long inter city rides like I do.
I was at Jaffa's gas station this (Xmas) morning taking her lunch and gassing the old girl up, quite a few customers came over for a look as people always do when I stop the 79 CB650PZ, then a guy rolls into the forecourt on a bike the size of a bus.
He's mid 50's and you can tell he knows his way around a bike, he strolls over, all smiles.."jeez that brings back memories, damn you're a lucky guy" he says.
I look at his massive machine, a Kawasaki 2000cc Vulcan, "nice bike yourself" I says back.
"Had a Harley before that" he said, " did 5000klm in 2 years, damn thing wouldn't go around corners, this one has done 7500klm in less than a year, It just feels right ya know"!
He's heading for Pukekoe up Auckland way, about 3-4 hours depending on how you ride, "keep the shiny side up" he says as he roars off.
I jump back on my old girl, yeah it just feels right, it takes me 3 hours to get home which is like 4 miles away ha ha ha yeah today it just feels right.
