Eliminating factory handlebar switches.

I am going to be installing a new non factory handlebar. However, I want to retain the switches in some form but... not on the handlebar.

Right now im considering making a little plate for all the switches and bolting it to the handlebar clamps. But what has me concerned is retaining the factory position of the turn signal switch.

Three questions.

1. Has anything like this been done?

2. Is there some sort of aftermarket solution for a turn signal switch that mounts to the handlebar?

3. Where can I buy some decent, relatively inexpensive, clutch and brake levers?

not to be a prick, but:

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Anywhere

There are many many options for handlebar switches, and the location of your electrical bits is only limited by your imagination and length of wires.  Also many options for clutch and brake levers.  Too many options to be specific with any suggestions.

Can you at least point me to a store that sells decent quality items I am looking for?

Many other Hondas had cable operated clutches, the clutch perches from those bikes are pretty universal.  When I was choosing the clutch perch to use on my project I wanted to be able to use an aftermarket lever set from a modern bike...to be sure that I'd be able to find levers in the future.
I'm using a 90's 750 nighthawk master cylinder and a CMX450 rebel clutch perch, they use the same levers and the clutch perch has a mirror mount on it, clutch perches from sportbikes or dirtbikes won't have a mirror mount.

I searched ebay for a little while looking at different lever sets for different Honda models, most of the auctions included a little chart of all the models and years that that particular lever set would fit.  With a little persistance and some detailed note-taking I was able to find just what I needed at a good price.

Also check out www.mikesxs.net for levers, perches and switches.
I'd head over to some of the Honda chopper sites to ask around for info on minimalist switches.

Just a few days ago I read a post that had a link to some very slim, replacement controls.  Do a search from the HOME page using "swithes", "controls"....
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
