Difference in 550 heads

Okay, I remember reading in one of the psots, that someone was saying that there was an improvement made to the 550 head , and that 1977 and newer were better.
Can anyone shine some light on this for me?
Thanks much,
~Joe

Maybe you are thinking about the valve cover? In 76 Honda switched to four long rocker shafts with pins to lock the shafts from rotating in the valve cover. This was a potential problem area previously as rotating rocker shafts caused wear in the cover.
