750 K5 carb rebuild question
« on: January 11, 2010, 05:43:52 PM »
Hi everybody,

I'm rebuilding my carburetors. The rebuild kit air screws have no hole, but the originals do. Like this:

Does anybody know if this is an important difference? Can I put in the new ones?

A second question:
the slow running jet provided by the rebuild kit has significantly smaller hole than the stock jet. Again, is this an important difference? Will I have to change other settings to compensate?

Thanks

Harper

You can put in the new ones.  But the stock pilot screw setting will no longer apply.  You have to find the proper setting through tuning.

Slow jet sizes are stamped on the jet with a number indicating their orifice size.
What number jets are you comparing?

If those numbers or the orifice size that is represented differ, then fuel delivery rates are altered.
The ends of the jets are NOT where the metering orifice is located.

Oh, I see. I didn't understand that before.
They are both stamped 40, so the new ones should be fine.

Thank you,
