those are pretty slick, nice and tiny!  they're not my cup of tea, but they do look good on the carb!

where'd you get them?

On ebay, cheap knock offs of a k&n, they need to be small to clear the frame, only 3 in working space in there. It allows for a little bit better performance and so I can remove the heavy cumbersome air box.

"little bit better performance" might not be accurate with stock engine... i know a guy with cheap dyno services if you want to get it overwith and have the best performance possible with the pods, but prepare for low end loss. search the forums- lots on this topic.

I may eventually dyno tune it, I am pretty familiar with carb tuning. Well at least tuning with out a dyno, you know the butt dyno ;). I was speaking about top end gains, and weight gains. Pods do not allow enough velocity pressures to boost bottom end and mid range. To much flow not enough resistance. I will however need to find out what carb settings to start with as I don't know what has worked for most people with these bikes, like the main jet size, needle position and mixture screw setting, so I can at least have an idea of a place to start. I will have to do some searching I am sure.

I just wanted to chime in again to say that after finally reading your link last night you definitely have creativity and skill, and props to your father for his support.  I’m sure many people will agree with me that your build is very inspiring and informative.  Keep it coming man because it’s great stuff.

Just some info for you......I ran those same Emgo filters on my CB500 and you dont have to change anything on the carbs(just use the stock carb settings). Ran it like that for about 3yrs and bike ran great.....bottom-mid-top. Also.....a friend is running his CB500 AHRMA race bike with just velocity stacks....stock settings on the carbs......just make sure everything else is tuned.

Also.....ran a braided brake line on my bike....you will need to ditch all that stock line....rubber and metal section and run the line direct to the caliper and use one of these fittings from Dennis Kirk:

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=194431&catId=416&leafCatId=41604

Allows you to screw that AN fitting on the brake line to the 10mm hole in the caliper.

yeah thats the part I was looking for... too late though I already made it work. I welded the fitting to the caliper. It will be the same, just a little bit more work. I guess nothing new huh, do a lot of people do this?

Yeah I welded the adapter onto the caliper, It also allowed me to angle it more straight up instead of toward the rim.

So things are coming along great, I wrapped my exhaust, that went well. The headers required a little bit more force to seat then I like I won't be able to tell if they will leak at the head until I run the bike. I am a little nervous about that. I guess at the worst it would just be a pain to fix, not impossible. I would have to unwrap the exhaust cut it mount it to the bike again and reweld then rewrap a major pain but doable. I should stop loosing sleep over it. I am still waiting on tires, that pretty much is it other then a few very minor loose ends in the wiring and ride ability set up.
