Can someone give me some tips on getting the carbs out, without tearing anything. I should be pulling up and out the right side, right? thanks in advance.

I use a broomstick between the carbs and the motor to pry mine out. Just go slowly and you won't rip the intake rubbers, or if you do you should replace them anyway
Works like a charm!

put your thumbs on the intake manifolds and the rest of your fingers on the carb body (or vice versa) and press the 2 apart.
elbow grease my friend!
