Old School Mechanic Brisbane
« on: February 10, 2010, 10:10:07 pm »
Hello Brisbane. Can anyone recommend a good bike shop to tune up my Four, in particular getting the carbs sorted. Have used one place, but the experience could have been better, so I'm after any alternatives. I've heard of few places, but very interested to see what you guys have to say as you've probably been in the same position of finding someone you can trust. Cheers.

Hi Bird, there is a guy at Ormiston {in the Redlands} that is supposed to be good. His name is Murray and i'll have to do a drive by to get his number because he doesn't advertise, he specialises in older Honda's and Kawasaki's and so on..

07 3488 0304 is the shop number.  Retro motorcycles is the name.  Located in Trade Street.

Where did you take your bike and not get value for tuning?

You could always post what bike you have and what you've done, and then we can all have fun a try and figure out how to get it running smoothly  ;D

Thanks Mick and Ace. I've heard of Retro and I'll check them out soon. As for where I got the not so great service, they know who they are...

As for the crabs, I bit the bullet this morning between breakfast and packing the kids off to school and took out the jets and floats for a good clean and look around.
One jet wasn't too tight and another had crud on it, so a good clean over the weekend may help. Thanks again guys. Cheers.

There is a guy just off pickering street, Magura i think, that doesn't advertise but does work on older bikes.  When mine is back on the road I think I will take it there to be tuned.  There is another guy from my club but he doesn't specialise just does anything and everything.  You can find him on netbikes.com.au and he is located south side near Carindale.  He just runs a backyard job from the garage of his house.

Mick

A lawyer boarded an airplane in New Orleans with a box  of frozen crabs and asked a blonde stewardess to take care of them for him.
She took the box and promised to put it in the crew's refrigerator. He advised her that he was holding her personally responsible for them staying frozen, mentioning in a very haughty manner that he was a lawyer, and proceeded to rant at her about what would happen if she let them thaw out. Needless to say, she was annoyed by his behavior.
Shortly before landing in New York , she used the intercom to announce to the entire cabin, "Would the lawyer who gave me the crabs in New Orleans, please raise your hand?"

Not one hand went up ... so she took them home and ate them.

Two lessons here:
       1. Lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are.
       2. Blondes aren't as dumb as most folk think.  :D
