Being a huge fan of the old black and white monster movies, I really liked the remake!!

that's exactly what appealed to me about this film. it paid respect to the classic with just the right bit of modern.

too bad it didn't seem to do well at the box office as they clearly primed it for a sequel.

I just saw this on DVD.  Liked it for the same reason.  The look of the wolfman seemed to take it's cue from the original.  I thought the ending was a bit ambiguous, with Gwen's parting words maybe hinting at killing the bitten Aberline knowing what would happen or not, leaving it open for a sequel like you suggest.   

Have you seen American Werewolf in London?  Another good one with a bit of humor thrown in too.  Stars the lovely Jenny Agutter.

yeah, american werewolf is a classic. i think all good horror/drama has an element of humor in it. such as in life.

and i remember at the time the effects were cutting edge. still a good watching.
