which oil switch? 1972 750
« on: February 12, 2010, 10:55:09 PM »
the oil switch is leaking on my 72 750 and when searching for a replacement there are four different part numbers:

0189894
0295659
0401265(denso)
4641478(denso)
(numbers taken from partspitstop.com, though other sites use the same codes)

is there a specific one that fits more properly than the others?  i assume the different parts are all acceptable replacements for stock, but i'd rather be an informed buyer than make blind guesses.

thanks for the help.

If those are Honda parts, they all interchange. The bodies on the 750 switch were longer at the beginning, became shorter when the CB500-4 came out as they shared the same switch after that. The boot stayed the same length, which fits the CB500 style switch better after the rubber gets hard and shrinks!

I've had better luck with Denso brand switches than the Hitachi: the Hitachi ones seem to be the ones that get leaky after a time.
