Topic: my life is totally ruled by my cats

as i was putting food into their dishes this afternoon (the bottoms were showing a little bit, apparently thats no longer acceptable) i realized that because hamish sat on my chest howling at me until i woke up then followed him into the kitchen where he sat by a dish and hollered at me until i put enough food in ALL 4 dishes to make the bottom of the dishes disappear, i am totally ruled by these small (6-15 pounds) furry monsters.

Kick 'em out of the house! That's what I do with my wife's cats.
Probably a little colder in SC than TX, but they have some fat on 'em to stay warm?

Ya gotta be tougher.  Mine are fed in the morning and at 7pm and the dishes only stay out for 30 minutes and then get pulled.  No food is left out for them to snack on.  They sure now when 7 rolls around though and if I let it slip they start in complaining.  For years we feed them once a day but now with two older cats we changed to two smaller meals.

ours get fed at 6AMish (whenever they wake us up) and 9 PMish (or whenever I feel like it, out of passive aggressive retaliation)  but they get 1/4 cup each and that usually holds them over.  The boys got cut down to low-fat because Ito was getting too fat to clean his own butt.

I'm teaching mine to speak. He grew up with a 230 lb mastiff and he thinks he's a dog anyway. The wifes co-workers think I have too much time on my hands.

Good luck with that. Cats are too much like women. Teach them to speak and they'll never shut up.   Ito wanders the house saying "Hello?" if he doesn't see anyone. It creeped me out when I first had him- thought someone broke in or something.

had a sweet old fluffy black hairball who would always howl and cuss at whatever other cat wandered into the yard. one time she's going totally nuts like there's a pride of lions or something at the back door...

nope. just another fluffy black hairball and I figured the extra noise was something like YOU #$%*! HOW DARE YOU COME TO MY PARTY WEARING THE SAME DRESS!

Get round bottomed dishes that make the food slide to the middle, not flat bottomed. You may not find them at department stores, but they do carry them at pet stores usually.

When Ito'san can't find us right away, walking through the apartment saying "helloooo, mom? hellooo!!", he gets more pathetic each time, sounding like he's lonely and unloved. We have to poke our heads out from where we are and let him know we are there.

Yes, we are trained. 

Bodhi is the designated early morning whiner who stomps on my chest to wake me up just so I know the sun is almost up and by the way, the dish is empty too. Ito hangs out in the living room to guide me to the bowls. HarleyQuinn is patiently waiting near her bowl, guarding it from the 2 boys. She knows better.

In less than 24 hours I trained my Golden Retriever puppy to ring a bell when he wanted to go outside. It took about the same amount of time for me to regret doing that, as the wife and I can barely watch 20 minutes of anything on TV with that GD bell ringing because the dog wants to go sniff around outside.

Yes, some one suggested that it would be nice if cats could talk, I think that's a crappy idea, I can see it now, my dish is empty, you,re not going to feed me that crap again, "I wouldn't feed that to a dog",
my water is low, the cat box is filthy, I want out, I want in, JESUS, there's a stranger in the nieghbor hood, do something, now, why can't I eat that Chickadee. Humans are such idiots, warm those hands before you pet me, I want out, I want in, what do you mean it's winter, change it, NOW, God humans are brain dead, why, Why, WHY. Just to mention some of the things that night be discussed, at the moment at least, there is a certain air of mystery about the proceedings, and I'm not continously reminded of my short comings as a cat servant.

Our Golden Retriever was a dog genius, He could figure things out, once he made the connection between fetching the paper and getting a treat so he went to all the neighbors houses and got their newspapers. he learned how to unwind his lead from around a pole, never did roll over but could say roll over. If the kids didn't pay enough attention to him in the morning he took their clothes and ran through the house to get them to play. After he was a year old we never tied him, we just told him to stay home and he did. Our St Bernard helped our 3 girls to learn to walk, they would grab some fur and pull themselves up, he stood like a statue. If I pretended to spank them he would try to stop me. The English Mastiff was a real sweetie just too big to handle when he got old and sick. I took him to the vet once in a 28 foot car trailer because he could walk up the ramp door.

my "kids" have never been out, at least not since being rescued/adopted. too many cars, too many people in this town that like to hurt cats. this way they live alot longer and stay healthier. my cats get 1 cup of food, per cat per day and they're all at a good weight though Hamish at nearly 14 also gets a small can of senior food at night, by himself in the bathroom while i shower, it's become our own nightly ritual

i have a pic someplace on my hard drive of Gus, before i caught him and got him his shots, his nuts cut off and in the house, sitting with his feet on the gas tank and his hands on the handlebars, looked like he was going for a ride.

Mine will help me get dressed. She grabs my belt and knocks it down off the hook.
She will pick out my pants, shirt, tie, and knock everything off the hangars or hook.

She has decent taste at times, but loses it all when she opens the bathroom door to stare at me while I take a dump.

I'd close the door but I cannot reach it from the throne.

I feed my cats once a day. they generally live with it for the most part. The food lasts them most of the day and night so they never really go hungry but they dont get enough turn into fatties!

A lady where my wife works had her new kitty spayed, later took her to a different vet for shots, the new vet asked if the kitty was neutered (costs more for tags if not) lady says she was recently spayed, Vet says, I'll be right back. He called her into the exam room and showed her the scar where the kitty had been "spayed" and also his testicles which were still there! They are wondering exactly what had been removed?

hamish is a mix too. mom was purebred siamese and dad was my barncat, he looked like sylvester from Looney Toons.
