Topic: What color is this CB500 side cover

My 72 CB500 had two different colored side covers on it. one was light brown and one was dark brown. i think this is the darker of the two. it isnt the best picture but does it look like candy garnet brown or maxim brown metallic?

yep checked the specs but I'm thinking one of my sidecovers is from a 72 and one is from a 73. trying to figureout if this side cover is the candy garnet brown for a 72

I'd say garnet brown. Its a little bit redder than the maxim brown.

I found what I think is an example of maxim brown on this nice unrestored 74 CB450:

My original garnet brown paint did not "survive". It faded badly even though my bike was mostly parked out of the sun. I have pics in my gallery (link below) of before and after repaint.

actually someone on the forum is looking for a side cover and i just wanted to make sure this is the color he's looking for. i've already had my CB500 painted. you can check it out in my project thread below. i'm pretty happy with it.

Is it possible that they used to be the same colour and one side is more sun faded than the other?  I think that's the case with mine.
