1971 CB750 Cafe Project First Bike, First Build
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:39:41 PM »
Good morning Neverland, I've already started my cb750 cafe project but all the amazing project threads have inspired me to recap my teardown up to this point and then keep an up to date journal of my ongoing build.  I've always loved anything with an engine: planes, cars, motorcycles, but my 750 cafe racer is a first attempt at a complete rebuild.  I've already learned a lot from this forum and I have tons more to learn.  I hope that by recording my build I will find the answers to the issues I run into and provide answers for those who meet the same problems.  As a side note, my build will be pretty slow since I am also attending college and competing in athletics simultaneously.  The first set of photos are of the bike when I picked it up in Portland and the last of this set is of the bike when it was running, two owners ago.  When I got the bike it was in alright condition, not running but turning over with audible compression when kicked over.  The wiring harness was junk but there were a couple good things too, the front forks were bright, the headlight was clean, the rear suspension looked good, there were some sweet clip-ons, and the wheels and tires were useable for now.  When I bought the bike the owner also threw in two almost complete 750s for parts, we'll see if I can use them.  Let the build begin...
