Very nice, I think the Japs have got some real competition there. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The new bmw rocket seems to be a very good bike. I have read a couple articles on it from sport rider and motorcyclist and it seems to function and run very good. About time the japs get some good competition! better for us.

I am torn between two thoughts:

1. I would love to own/ride this bike.

2. I fear for people who are like me at 20 yo owning this bike. **(well I fear for their loved ones)

the BMW Triumph dealer i worked at wouldnt sell any of the rockets to anyone under the age of 25. kind of a mix of showing care and concern for their younger customers and wanting them to turn into old customers and fear of being sued by some squids parents after junior kills himself on a bike with enough horsepower to change the weather.

the problem with the ram air effect is you get different results depending on the weather factors.

humidity, temp, barometric pressure, etc....

If that were the case and we measured all bikes by the ram air effect I think we'd see over 200hp a long time ago.

The drag racer in me screams "Awesome!!"....... yet the street rider begs the question, "Is that really necessary in traffic?"

Did a dyno run on one the other day, std with Akropovic full road exhaust. 1100 km's on clock. No fuel mapping done.

New info on the exciting new BMW s1000rr...

* The s1000rr is so fast that it's the only bike who's lap times are expressed with a negative number.
* When you do a valve adjustment of an s1000rr, the valves automatically get adjusted on any other bikes in the vicinity.
* Actually, the valves on the s1000rr never go out of spec, the specs get rewritten based on its valve clearance.
* Normal dino oil automatically becomes synthetic when used in an s1000rr, and it becomes fat free and tastes great over a salad.
* The 1000 in the s1000rr name actually denotes the bike's trap speed in mph during 1/4 mile runs...excuse me, I meant 1/8 mile runs.
* The s1000rr doesn't pose at Starbucks...Starbucks poses next to it.
* The s1000rr uses an rsv4 as a pitbike.
* You will never find a printout of a dyno sheet on an s1000rr because they haven't made a sheet of paper big enough for it.
* The s1000rr is the only bike that can indicate a left turn and a right turn at the same time and then follow through.
* If you put an s1000rr sticker on your toyota, toyota won't recall it because it is just so awesome.
* The s1000rr is so awesome it collected Jay Leno.
* The s1000rr can not only do a 12 oclock wheelie, but it can do the noon and midnight versions.
AND...
* the BMW s1000rr has four modes...rain, awesome, awesomer, and Chuck Norris.

Ha ha, we'll it's only got half the torque of a Rocket III mate, but it only weighs half of an R3 too, so I suppose it all evens out, The R3 will cream a 'busa (the previous benchmark for accelleration before the new BMW) by .5 of a second to 60 MPH, so I'd be interested to see how an R3 would shape up against that Bavarian beastie? Needless to say, I wanty............  ;D
