Small battery for cb400f
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:34:45 PM »
Can anyone point me to a small AGM type battery that is suitable fr a CB400f.  Stock electrics and I'll be keeping the Electric start.  Custum mount to suit battery.

I just spent 30 seconds searching the web for 'agm battery cb400f' and found this when I searched the site for a cb400f battery

http://www.bikebatts.com/product_info.php?&products_id=79

I guess a 400f takes a 12 ah unit.

Cheapest AGM I've ever seen.

Could this 12ah battery work:  http://cgi.ebay.com/RBC6-12v-12ah-SLA-Sealed-Lead-Acid-APC-UPS-Battery-ZEUS_W0QQitemZ390159738311QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_UPS?hash=item5ad75525c7#ht_2240wt_939

It's small!  Anyone think it would just run out of steam in a matter of seconds, or work ok?

If it is truely a 12 AH (Ampere Hour)battery it will be capable of dischargeing 12 amps at the rated (12) voltage for 1 hour. The thing that concerns me about those style of batteries is the connections, tiny flat spade connectores usuall are made for a 12g wire at the most. Where you can see the original battery wires on your bike are much larger, to handle the load of the starter circut.

Some have used that type in bikes before, but with minimal electrical systems and no electric start...like a race bike.

Exhuming this thread because I am also searching for an AGM battery for my 400F project, I did not find one sold by the big players, but I did find this:

http://www.batterymart.com/p-ytx14-bs-agm-maintenance-free-battery.html

Hope that's helpful to someone.
