where is this?
« on: March 10, 2010, 01:49:52 PM »
In an attempt to diagnose poor charging on my 77 cb550f Im in search of this ground, circled in red on the attached image.  It seems to be the main ground reference for the bike, but I cannot find it for the life of me.  Where does this ring terminal actually attach to the frame on this bike?!?  I cannot seem to find where it branches off from the main bundle of wires and attaches to the frame.

Thanks,
Jeremy

ya mark the 550 does not have a ground attachment there.if you actually look at the picture its right by the coil assembly for the four cylinders.its the ground that goes on one of the bolts that hold that on.you can just make it out in the picture.

heres another, you can see it a bit better. the circled areas ae where i have had it grounded and where it was grounded.if you look in the picture you posted the ground is a hoop, to be bolted and then shows the dotted ground coming off it.

For the Cb550F the ground, lug is attached under the fuel tank where the coil mounts.
