Installing new emblems on tank - fitment question
« on: March 19, 2010, 08:18:19 AM »
I bought new 'Honda' tank emblems and new retaining clips. I first made sure the emblem was adjusted to fit the curvature of the tank, then installed the tiny little retaning clips into their holes and finally put the emblem on the tank. I heard the popping of the clips when the emblem pushed in. All seemed well but the emblem is a bit loose. It's not nearly as secure as I would expect. Is there something I'm missin with my process of install? Or do some people use adhesive in addition to the clips?

I also used a small dab of black silicone.  They have been solid since the rebuild.

just installed mine tonight, used wifey's glue gun.  glue on both pins, then between the pins, 'cause the curve didn't match the tank.

I  wrapped a thin piece of masking tape around the pins to make up the difference in thickness. Now a tight fit, but not a permanently stuck like glue. Whatever your method, you want to snug fit.^^
