Front brakes rubbing/squeeking on 550K
« on: March 21, 2010, 10:57:39 AM »
Here is the deal, the front brakes on my bike slight rub always. It's not really bad, but enough to cause some squeeking when I'm riding. I pulled the brakes off, pulled off the bleed screw, and pushed the main pad back in a bit, then re-bled them in attempt to fix it. But no matter what the brakes always return right back to rubbing a bit. I've adjusted the caliper adjustment screw and it's all the way. Tried tightening it, redoing the "push the pad back in" number, then loosening again, but it's always the same. The tire spins about 1/2 - 3/4 turn before the brakes rub it to a stop. (With the front wheel off the ground and spinning by hand). The pads look fine. Any ideas? I also installed clubman bars so it changed the angle of the resevoir a bit, but would that cause it? There is no binding or jamming in the lines from what I can tell. Anyways, thanks in advance for the help.

Have you rebuilt the caliper per the procedure in the Brake FAQ?
