Please ask Two Tired to stick around
« on: March 25, 2010, 08:27:51 AM »
10,308 posts is not enough to stop now.
It's time to speak up people!!!
I'm still a virtual newbie here, but I've read enough of his stuff to realise he'd be a great loss to this forum.

I think this cabin fever thing is getting too severe.  Gonna have to walk away from the forums for a while.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.

Sometimes everyone needs a break though.. I would much prefer he leave for a small bit and come back happier then if he were to stay to the point where he drained himself of this hobby completely.

Either way its of no question that people on this forum value his knowledge.

I for one, would like to see him stay.

Maybe he just needs a change of scenery, bit of rest, and he will be back...

He's just taking a break. He's done it before. He'll be back, and will probably post if he sees something that needs his input in the interim.
It's going to be OK. :)

i also appreciate TwoTireds contributions to the forum, as i do the rest of the members here. if it wasn't for the SOHC4 community and its members my CB500 wouldn't be the good looking and great running bike that it is today.

...but I think your jumping the gun here in assuming TT is leaving the forum.

Maybe TwoTired is too tired.

Don't worry about TwoTired - he's in good hands.  His own.

It's always odd though; the straw that breaks the camel's back.  One might think it would be a political thread, or a religious thread, or something that brings out passionate discussions.  But in this case, it appears to be a tire thread.  I guess he really takes his name seriously....   ;D

I value Lloyd's contributions.  He's a good guy.

With the number of well-wisher messages he had when he was ill I think he knows how much we value his opinions and tech advise. In other words, he knows we luv him...  ;D Besides, he has to stay to collect the trophy when he wins the April BOTM award!!!

if he needs a break, then let him go!  10K+ posts on a forum is quite a lot of interest to just let it all go.  i feel you're assuming he's going to leave, i just think he's fed up with some things that happen to be related to here and he needs a break.  he'll be back, hard to show this much care and dedication to something you can't stand anymore...

TT, go do what you need to.  your posts are always appreciated and respected!

Okies. I was obviously looking at this with only one eye.
I can understand now that a break once in a while is a good thing.
Take your time TT. I look forward to your next post though.  ;)

After the ration of sh1t flung at the guy this week can you blame him for being a bit put off. Yeah he has a complicated style, but his info is very correct. Some people don't like that if he shakes their belief system. I find believing is does not make it so.

I certainly feel his pain.  How many times can one answer the same questions, and receive crap about it?  It's difficult to know when someone is truly asking a question for the best answer or just asking to affirm some crazy idea.

Thanks to those who cared enough to relay their sentiments.

I don't know how much I'm going to be contributing anymore.  As I am returning to an old passion of flying airplanes, and building / flying RC models.

I just feel my time is better spent on that, than bickering/arguing with/cajoling certain individuals on this forum.
It seems like most don't like the blunt, to the point, factual style, anyway, as it has nothing to do with popular style, du-jour.  And, if a post looks sorta like learning/schooling, it detracts from the enjoyment of the frivolous banter many come here to participate in.  (I don't really pretend to understand the real dynamic, so that's just an extrapolated guess, that doesn't mean anything.)  So, you just gotta throw the nerdy guy out of the clique so the status quo doesn't get messed up, and what is cool becomes threatened/tainted.

I recall my aircraft mechanic once asked me why I didn't become a teacher.  I expect now I know why that would never have worked out.  I try too hard, I think.

Gday Lloyd, mate this is not a popularity contest and  you can't please all of the people all of the time ,so what i am trying to say is, don't take it personal as there are more people on here that appreciate your knowledge and i find your approach quite refreshing {after initially finding it harsh  ;D} Hang around mate, the time and effort you put in is very much appreciated and for the rest of the lateral thinkers on here, they would surely miss your input.....Its the internet mate, don,t take it too personally.....  ;)

I train people for a living and I put up with that crap all of the time. I realize there are those who can be reached and those that can't. I enjoy those who learn and ignore those who can't/won't. There are those who construct a belief system that gives them comfort, truth or fact has no bearing on their belief system. They stay within this circle of the known and feel uncomfortable when they get close to the edge, and terrified if they step outside that circle.
Some people just feel they have to be right no matter what the fact are.

I do not buy into their fantasy, I simply humor them and not allow them to have any effect on me. Good luck on your flying, getting back to it myself.

Ah, Lloyd, for every 10 people that just want to argue or want some kind of agreement on mod choices they've made, if you help one person at least learn to think about the choices they make, isn' it worth it?
No.

TT, without your help the last few weeks, my calipers on my KO, K1 & K4 would be in bad shape with the wrong lube inside. I greatly appreciated how you stuck with me to help me understand what I needed and where to put it. That is just one example of the many you have helped here. I do hope that you do not let the comments of some take away so much you have to offer here. Do your plane hobby for sure, but please come back to your flock.
