I hate to bring up a dead cat, but I did refurbish the rear shocks on my 750K2, and it worked great. Here's a link to my thread on the Honda Twins forum; http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4133

Thanks for that awesome link.  I need to redo the shocks on my CL and I actually have an old set laying around, so I know what I'll be doing this week.  Plus Fabricator needs to redo the shocks on his 750, if this works for me hopefully it will work for him.
Your welcome, I should have posted it here too, but I didn't bother because most people replace their shocks with something better, and the Honda Twins folks are a little more restoration oriented, me? I'm just cheap :D
After you drill and tap, be sure to submerge the open end into oil, and work the damper to expel shavings. They say the factory used fish oil, and once you get a whiff of it you'll likely agree.

So it there a general consensus that 750's take 55 mL? And any updates on which oil to use? 15w?

Im looking for alternatives to buying new shocks and have 2 sets of old stock shocks. Thinking of attempting this.

Thanks.

Can stock rear suspension dampers on CB750 K2 be reconditioned? I am wondering whether I can recondition my rear dampers? Anyone in this forum has done it before? Tips please!!!

The answer is yes. Thank you Brown Bomber!

I have installed repop shocks from 4 into 1. They are cheap and look great. I can't talk about the ride as opposed to either OEM new or clapped out originals. I will say that they are adequate. I have them on a K1 as well as a K2. On these old girls I don't ride them at a pace where handling is an issue. I have BMW's for that

Sorry, meant to include photo of K1 with the inexpensive, yet functional shocks from 4 into 1. Ignore the Bavarian Manure Wagon

I have also used the sandcast type repro shocks. I think mine came from Z1 parts. They have a 5 position spring adjuster rather than the 3 position one. I have not tried to swap them yet but intended to.
I haven't noticed a problem riding with them one up. I think the consensus is they are at least as good as what came on these bikes.
