Cheap improvised Master Cylinder snap ring puller

I was frustrated trying to pull a rusty siezed snap ring out of my MC. I tried grinding down a pair of circlip pliers so they would clear the sides of the MC but they didnt work; the ring was too siezed for the pliers.
Then I went to the supermarket and I found a great cheap tool, a nut pick. For 2.29 I got a cheapo nutcracker and four "nut picks". The tips are a perfect size for the circlip and the stalk of the tool is really strong so it wont bend in half. After about 10 minutes of fiddling around I was able to pry out the old rusty ring.
Here's a pic of what they look like just in case you are like me and had never seen one before:

So what's the nutcracker for? Is that to punish yourself after hours of not being able to get that snap ring out?

You wear the nut cracker to gain extra strength needed to pry that damn circlip out.
