...sorry for jacking the thread I'll keep my opinion to myself next time.

Dude...we were discussing Amish vs Mennonite a little while back - I think this thread has entered the "unjackable" territory at this point.

Which makes me think that this is the perfect time for me to bring up the fact that I really like fruit smoothies.  Mango, preferably.

old 75, I think discussion is good..
I was trying to illustrate, that you cant do much to a 750 for a G-note, if the bike is bone stock, a  new off the shelf bore kit, boring & honing, gasket set, would eat up a lot of a g-note, might leave enough for a clutch.. maybe a cam, but not enough for pipes... You can get an 836, but not a 1000cc installed for that price..

I bet no one would complain if you could walk into a Honda dealer, buy a factory bore kit, and have easy access to head gaskets..

Yeah, A bore kit should get it in to the 12's.. but if you take yours to the strip, you may wonder how the magazines got such great time...

You don't need a 1000cc kit to get good times, the drag bike i bought was a 776 venolia kitted bike and it run 10's.....it also had a #$%*load of money spent on it and ran methanol at 14.5 to 1 compression.... ;D

Yea I will agree with the mag facts being slightly skewed I know our bikes are decently fast but I doubt they can keep pace with a Enzo in the real world lol.  I bought this bike because I wanted something for a good price that I could modify.  Choppers cost to much and crotch rockets aren't really my thing so this bike was perfect.  I never even really thought seriously about buying a bike until I saw this one.

even a modified crotch rocket still looks like a crotch rocket.  Our bikes have personality they are cheap and plentiful enough to not have to worry about modifying but still classics in their own right.

Well I decided that I just couldn't hear my bike.

We had to attend a last minute funeral this weekend (open house postponed) and it was a fellow biker who had been killed.

So of course..... everyone rode.

Now I wear glasses, and removed the windshield on my bike because I have yet to go out and get prescription goggles/glasses.

So I wear a full face helmet and I cannot hear #$%*.

After some checking I ofund out that you can poke a hole in the baffle plugs for a louder sound without sacrificing gas mileage. (I get 56mpg!!!)

Seems to be a nice sound.... but could stand to be even louder yet as I hear a lot of rocker noise.

Anyone know if that's very common in Evo motors? I mean I work on HD's... but everyday ya know? And this is the first one I've ridden on a regular basis since my panhead, whch made all kinds of racket.

Havoc,

2001 & 2003 Fat Boy. Windshield vs no windshield. Top end noise much more evident with windshield. Had me concerned at first with the windshield but I got used to it. Probably combination of the noise being directed upward and back to me with the shield plus less wind noise in my big ears to cancel engine noise.

Fix: serious pipes and ear plugs  ;)
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Yup, my '06 has a bit of rocker noise. I tune it out with an ipod plugged into my scala headset.  ;D

Yep HT if your on a HD (hmm that rhymed) and can hear anything you most likely need a new exhaust. ;D
