What am I doing wrong with my oil hose?

This is the second stock oil hose that I've put on my K2. Both times, they leak. It's the hose which is on the back of the oil tank with the slightly larger fitting. The other hose on the bike is fine...no leaks. Also, the bad hose only leaks when the engine runs for a while.

The initial bad hose I had didn't appear to have the washer in it while this one does. What am I doing wrong? Am I tightening it too much? Is the hose supposed to be able to pivot? I'll be honest and say I tightened it quite a bit.

Any input helps! Oh...I'm using fresh 10w40 Honda GN4.

If overtightened the aluminium ring is 'destroyed'. Remove the hose use a new ring and you'll see it stays dry.

It could be that the sealing washers need renewing.
They may have been tightened many times and crushed hard which is why they won't seal anymore.

Ditto Rob Voxonda. To answer your question, no the hose fitting should not pivot once tightened.

You need a fresh sealing washer and tightening should be an easy thing. Hand tighten till snug, another 1/4 to 1/2 turn to crush the washer. More than that you've got a problem.

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured I was doing something wrong at this point.

Can anyone tell me which washer it is I need to replace? The microfiche with the hoses doesn't seem to have it, but the tank fiche has a few. Hard to tell which I need:

i THINK ITS #26 just floating outthere in the picture, no description. try a oil drain plug washer, might fit.

I went to Motogrid.com and same fish. #26 is a 14mm drain plug washer, qnty 1. #25 is a 12mm washer which would be for the drain plug.  Still #26 with qnty of 2 seems to be what is required. Of course you only need the one as the other line is OK.
