Don, I've never had to replace either of the two gaskets; one is where the top of the carb meets the main body, and the other is under a square plate on the bottom of the carb. Replacing the top gasket requires removing the float, which can lead to a broken post just like Honda carbs, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you do order parts, I would include a set of 50F9 or F8 idle jets.

Thanks, I got my magnifying glass out and those are 45F9. Maybe that's why the idle screws are out 1 3/4 turns, should they be around 1 turn with 50F9? The chrome on the top plates is gnarly, mostly gone except under the hanger brackets. I may sand or scrape on it a little and see what happens. I ordered some cheap gaskets off ebay just to get the carb base and the top to air filter gaskets and a sheet of fine uni filter media.
The parts that remove easy will get a bath in the ultrasonic. Then I'll spray and blow them clean, there's no gunk at all but they have a little gritty feel, like they were nearby when the manifold was blasted. I'm not sure I'm ready to go whole hog cleaning them.

I have a sweet running K2 that belonged to an old friend, it mysteriously has a replacement frame with no numbers or tag and I've never titled it although I do have the paperwork to do so. The guy that built the engine (also built, owned and raced my drag bike) couldn't remember if it had an 836 or a less common bigger bore kit that he used when the 836's were sold out. I wish they both were still around, I would ask so many questions.
I got filter media today and sliced and diced the filters back together. The media is a bit too thick and the filters are a little worn but they should look good when all assembled.

IIRC, we set up Jerry's bike up with 32 mm chokes and 115 mains. He has yet to drag it down here for a dyno test.

The main reason I recommend 50 idle jets has more to do with cruising speeds than idle screw setting; yes they are related, but I've found that the idle jet is still well into play when cruising at a steady 70 mph or so. With smaller jets, I've experienced a bit of a lean miss under those same conditions.

Well the retirement is set. 6 days next week and I'm done. Heading to St Thomas 1/1/ through 4/3. The plan is to work on bikes when I return. May as well do it in AZ before it gets too hot. Target is July 4 week for the 50th in Ohio. I will have to decide which bikes to haul.

Both 750's, one 750 and CB1100F, one 750 and the CBX???

I ordered 4 jets, silicone hose and 8 wrap around clamps from Pegasus racing supplies. They are relatively close and had all three items. I'm swapping the gas tank on my gl1000 so I'll be ready to play when the gl goes back together.
Edit, this just in- 50 F 9 jets, hose and clamps arrived. Now to get a proper length measurement and determine a good way to make some beautiful cuts on the black hose.
When grandkids watching time is up I need to get to the shop for more than a half hour at a time. I hope to still be at it when my grandsons are big enough to participate. Their Moms are/were pretty good racers.

Santa brought the Haynes, Pat Braden and Brooklands Weber books. I already read up on aux venturis and emulsion tubes in the Brooklands. Interesting stuff and agrees with what I found here.

If I read and comprehended everything in these three books, I'd be a real expert. I worked on hose cutting today, a miter box and a razor sharp antique bread knife seem to be my favorite choice of weapons. As soon as the 78 Goldwing is back to being one big piece I'll clean up and begin weber fun.

What I want to know is what throttle lever to use, all of the weber ones I can find are for cars and don't allow you pull direction up on them. I have circled the part I am talking about in red in the picture below.

I ordered Weber gaskets from Europe, not the best idea. A slow boat from China is quicker. 32 days so far but they should arrive this week. L0L!

Unfortunately none of those will work with the R.C. manifold. As I need a lever that I can pull straight up on. The one in the picture I posted is actually what I am after, almost all of the R.C. setups I have seen use a similar lever. I'm not even 100% positive that it is a lever made for a DCOE . But I have been unable to find a lever that looks like that.

Yah that is certainly something that I will probably end up doing. I just assumed that there was some lever that people were using back in the day. Since the R.C. setup was sold in magazines and I assumed people weren't just making their own levers.

That looks like it may be two levers, fit onto the same shaft?
RAZZ, I like those spools! I don't think I've seen anything like that before on Webers?? Now you have me thinking.

If i find my box of Weber linkage, i will see what is there.. came from a sportscar shop, but might be something in there.
Scott I think the wheels may have been used on Sudco Harley kits, but easy to make from AL. .
HD Keihins used a steel one, they might be reasonable..

Hah yah my friend sent me that exact linkage. I think the S&S wheel is pretty close to working. But I will just make a cardboard template and make my own, instead of trying to co-opt a S&S setup. I really need to get the linkages on there, I was able to get the whole thing running but it has a long way to go. It was able to idle seemingly on two cylinders though.

This is another linkage version. I used this on the sidecar, worked very well with a nice smooth pull. Does require a return spring, but all Weber set-ups hould have one.
