CB450 Needs a new tank, what years will fit?
« on: April 02, 2010, 01:52:17 PM »
I've got a 75 CB450 that has a leaking fuel tank.  I guess I'm going to replace it...

Anyone know what years will fit? Thanks

Can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure any cb or cl450 from 66-74 will work.

I have a 73 CB450 tank. It seems pretty clean, I can send you a pic if interested. I do not think I have a petcock for it though.

Any CB450 tank with side hinges (K5/6/7) will fit.
K1-K4 used rear hinged seats........
K0 (4-speed) tanks won't work.

My bad - of course, tanks have no hinges.
I got off on seats because so many guys discover that CB/CL have seats/tanks with different lengths.

In other words, a CL tank is not long enough to reach the end of a CB seat.
Conversely, a CB tank will not work with a CL seat (seat is too long).

Apologies for any confusion......any 5-speed 450 tank will fit on any 5-speed frame, but the seat must be considered (re, CB/CL)- that's when the hinges might become an issue......if you switch to a CL tank, then you'll need a CL seat, and vice-versa.
Many folks prefer the less chunky lines of a CL tank.
