I lost a little bit of faith in humanity last night...
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:59:02 am »
not that I had much to begin with, but whatever.  ;D

I was on my way to work around 10:00 PM, riding through the welfare side of town (which usually isn't a problem other than the smell). Out of the corner of my eye I see something hit the road in the center of the other lane, bounce up, and hit my right side mirror - someone threw something at me! I didn't see anyone, and since I was on my way to work I really couldn't do anything about it, but it just pissed me off - why would you do that? It sounded like a small plastic toy of some kind, but it was solid and it left a mark on the back of my mirror (I need new mirrors anyway, but that's not the point). Just wanted to rant, but has this happened to anyone else?

yep -
rocks dropped on my car from pedestrian bridges over the freeway (broke the windshield)
things thrown at me (on bike) from passing cars
lit cigarettes flicked at me while splitting lanes in stop-n-go traffic; very obviously done on purpose. (of course the dumbass was stuck in gridlock while I was free to move around and get a little payback)

people suck.

When I lived in Cali I had that happen but the guy was staring at me in his side mirror and started closing in on the line as I approached with a big dumb grin on his face, luckily I had some carbon fiber nuckles on my gloves and that dude had a broken mirror after I passed.

Awesome.  :)

I had a golf ball smash my windshield while I was in mid-song to some tune and glass flew in my mouth and all over me- luckily my eyes were closed while I was belting out a big note.

#$%*er was teeing off balls in the opposite direction to the highway- which I was doing about 70MPH at that time.  >:(

While none of it was on purpose (i hope) I have a couple threads devoted to the stupidity of humanity.

But never had any obvious threats from cars other than not looking etc.

Other bikers though... been in a few scuffles because of my brand, style, etc.

This is what sucks about our favorite interest.  Some punk pulls something like this, and finds out that even a little 350F like mine can keep up(at least in the city)with just about any cage.  And then he goes out and gets a 600 sportbike and proceeds to give all riders a bad name.  Cause once a punk, always a punk.

Dukie, I hope that wasn't me! I remember back in highschool I was on the golf team and playing our home course. The 3rd tee ran parallel to a roadway and I sliced my drive and smacked an on coming car dead on!

As for myself any and all close calls or hits have been accidental (I think) mainly stinging creatures etc.

Had a female empty her car ashtray at me cause she didn't like me glancing at her.
Had another female pass me on the right, in a turn lane into a factory, when I caught up to her at a red light, I asked what her problem was.  She just gave me the finger, so I twisted the side view off her new car.  She didn't think it was funny then.
My wife kicked in the door of a jerk in a car trying to crowd us out of our lane.   :o

This is MickeyX's story, not mine, but that's never stopped me ::)

She was out on her road bike (not honda, not harley... think Novara) :D  and some punk ass kids roll down the window and tag her on the shoulder as they pass.  That's terrifying #$%* on a bicycle.

She was all kinds of pissed off and cranked it, catching up with the car and giving the little buggerers Hell at the next stop light.

That's my lady!!! :D ;D

Yeah, those little #$%*s put me into the curb a bit and sped off laughing. So, I chased them down through the town and caught them about 7-8 blocks up. I wonder how they felt being caught by a chick with 1 1/2 legs on a bicycle? I'm sure they didn't tell that part of the story to their buddies.  :D

I love the guy in the big pickup last year who pulled up next to me on my HD 883 and made a "chick bike" comment out the window at me, laughing to his buddy. I put up my visor, looked him right in the eye and said "Yeah it's a chick bike. I'm a chick #$%*."

Actually, by most HD standards, they consider any sportster to be a chick bike. I have no idea why. There are bars that won't let you park your chick bike next to the big twins. Idiots.

Mickey consider there are some places that wont let you park anything next to a bloated V-twin. Consider also that they wouldn't understand what a Black Shadow was.
