...enough to set the pistons in ?
« on: April 12, 2010, 12:58:49 PM »
...last time I have to give up  >:( was not able to finish the engine.
The polisher forgot to drill a cone! Went there again and he drilled it but I am not sure if it will be enough
to be able to set the 836 wiseco pistons in the cylinder.
It is a 65mm bore and I measured at the top of the cone ~66mm but only 1 - 1,5mm hight.

What do You think ?

I believe the English word you are looking for is "Chamfer" rather than cone.  But I think I understand your question.  I have never measured the size of the chamfer on the bottom of a piston bore, but from the picture they look very typical.  You must be VERY careful when inserting the piston rings.  Take your time.  I'm sure there are many threads on this topic already posted.  They will take individual attention.  You cannot simply shove the rings into the bore.  You must collapse them each, by hand, one at a time.  Or at least that is how I've done it before...

Good luck.  I wish I was installing some new 836 pistons...

...THX for the right word ;)

Last time I was able to get 2 pistons in #1 & #4 but no way to get more in and there wasn't chamfer.

Hope it will fit this time.
