$#%@%%^ Landlords!
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:30:20 PM »
My landlords suck.  They do such a poor job of maintaining their properties that a garage door fell off their "private" garage at the house I rent and fell on my motorcycle today.  I need to replace the rear fender and entire rear tail light assembly including the lens because the door (think large barn door) smashed it.  Argh!  I even saw the whole thing happen as I was cleaning the engine getting it ready for paint.

Anyway, anyone have a decent rear fender, tail light assembly, and rear light lens they want to sell?

Thanks,
Camelman

Do you, or does the landlord have insurance?  That's jacked up.

I don't have full coverage.  I do have renters insurance, but the deductible is $500.  I might be able to get a few hundred from the landlords.  That damned shed is going to fall down on their 69 fastback mustang and late 60s notch back, and they just don't care.  Totally pathetic.

I have a CB350F.

This is an easy one: They are at fault and thus, need to compensate you for damages.

Yeah, their junk fell on your junk.  Whether or not they care if it damages their property is not your concern, it damaged yours.

Tell them to compensate you for the damages, if they pose a threat call George W. Bush.

I agree with this. I had some plumbing problems a few months back, my tub stopped draining water, so every morning I would have to grab 2 5 gallon buckets and pour the water down the kitchen sink. I got very fed up with my landlord not fixing it or calling me back, so I called and left him a message saying that I will not pay a cent of my rent until its fixed. Low and behold he called me back the next day, and got the thing fixed.

A couple of years ago I got ready for work in the morn and went out to my bike and there it was ,dragged about 10 ft on its side(1977 cb750 SS,Mint cond,Black with orange stripe((was mint))I freaked out and called my landlord because they use the garage at the rental property,He casually says oh yeah, one of my workers told me about that.So I told him I would sue and he told me to get an estimate.Of course I got an estimate from my local Honda dealer for damages(2700 bucks :)He cuts me a check for $2700 and I fixed the damage from a local salvage yard for $400.I ended up with $2300 in my pocket.I consider myself a lucky person.
its better to regret something you have done, than something you havent.Except playing with explosives.
