Source for washers

I've found it difficult finding after market nuts, bolts and washers to replace those that are beyond repair. Buying one bolt at a time in a Honda package will make me broke in no time. Any one know a source for 6X20 fender washers used all over the place like the battery box? I've found plenty of 6X18 but you know it's not the same size.

A 1/4 by 7/8 would be close, but I understand 30 thousandths is 30 thousandths.  

20 millimeters = 0.787401575 inches
6 millimeters = 0.236220472 inches

yes thx. Bolt has the 6X20. No idea what they are made out of though. I guess I'll spend the 2.60 and find out.

Yeah thanks but 6X20 are the size I asked about. Like I said initially there seems to be lot's of 6X18 in a variety of materials. It seems to be a standard size. Honda used some weird sizes like those washers that hold the chain guard on. I don't even know what you call those things. Or those two diameter chrome bolts that are used on the handles. Those things cost a fortune. And even the 8mm bolts in the triple tree area. The bolts head was much thicker than what you can buy after market today. And while I'm at it, folks selling bolt sets for cases are not correct either. Where Honda used a 6X63, you get a 6X60 in the kit and so on. So all I'm saying is it's tough to find replacement fasteners when yours are all corroded beyond repair without going back to Honda and I wondered if anyone had a solution. Maybe I'm being picky but I'd like to replace like with like without going broke doing it. And by the way, I found that if I take a 6mm stainless bolts, grind the numbers off the head and hold it on the buffer for a minute, it shines like chrome. Don't know if it will last. The cadmium Honda used really held up well for a while and some will still clean up really nice. Try buffing a case screw for a few seconds and see what happens. Anyway, I digress.

Fasteners, especially washers, drive me crazy on my restorations so I know where you're coming from.  I'm working on a spreadsheet that lists all the fasteners for early CB750's.  There's over 30 different washers alone.  When its done it will have the size and description and where its used and hopefully sources.  I know it won't help you now but I'll post it when I'm finished.  By the way, the plating is zinc.

A neighbor of mine who builds custom cars from old cars sometimes gathers all the nuts, bolts, washers etc. and sends them off someplace for replating with cadmium (waaaaay better than zinc). He says it's not too expensive either.

Better unless you're going for accurate resto.  Back to the original post, where else do you find the 6x20 washers?  My sheet shows the battery box as the only place they're used going by Honda part number.  But sometimes different numbers are the same size.

I don't know where else they are used. I made a set of the 6X20 from stainless but I shouldn't have to do that. Next is the washer that goes under most all 6mm bolts. Some are chrome, some aren't but they are all bigger in dia than what's in the store today. I'd be really interested in that spreadsheet of yours when you finish. Especially if it has sources. For example the 8X56 and 8X74 chrome bolts that are in the triple tree. You're not going to find that size anywhere. Honda must have made their own fasteners. Man I bet if the spreadsheet could be sourced somehow, you'd have a lot of folks interested.

The majority of the 6mm & 8mm washers are what they call a form B washers.  Same ID & OD but thinner than standard.  I buy them instead of trying to get them replated.  Those chrome bolts are a problem too.  I going to need some soon and I think I'm just going to throw the old ones in with my chrome plating.

It's advisable to replace like with like. I've pulled/stripped threads out with 1-3mm too-short bolts and I destroyed a field coil with 1mm too-long bolts.
