Yeah Sam the planting dates here are traditionally 24 May or 1 June I hope to christ we don't a late frost here. Some birds were early like the crows (harbinger of spring) others on time and we've had geese for a couple of weeks but the weather has been about a month early then almost seasonal, who knows not me.

I have the best dandelions (in the lawn) this year that I have ever had!  >:( Here in Ontario, herbicides are now illegal so pulling them is the only option, but I must have a million of them.

I'm a bit south of you Bill but still in the same Zone 5. I've pushed it about a month this year because of the amazing spring that we have been having. The weather guys have been warning about frost tonight, low of -2C so we'll see how it goes. Funny that I had a dream last night about waking up and finding everything covered with snow.

So far I have lettuce, radishes, peas (about 3-4" high now), onions (three types), potatos (two types), garlic, spinach and leeks. All the cold weather stuff. Oh yes, and I did put in a couple kinds of tomatos last weekend and they seem to be doing ok but we'll see if they are still alive Sunday morning?

And I have one kinda neat experiment that I am working on this year, some acorns that I brought back from the family cottage that I planted around last fall, some of those are coming up. I don't have oak trees around here so I hope that they like it here. I cover this guy at night to keep the rabbits away from him.
aound here they get 3 or 4 inch diameter plastic tubes that are four feet tall and just put them in the ground over the new plant and are just left there for years and it allows them to get much larger with out deer or rabbits eating them... they then either split or  get cut off

Today I replaced the tomatoes that got killed by the frost/snow last week and planted some peppers as well. I don't have nearly as many as demon70 though, just a couple dozen plants.

The potatoes have started to show above ground now, just barely.

Isn't Spring GREAT!

May 15th is last frost date here supposedly. I grew up in se North Carolina, last frost date
March 15th. It sucks every year I have to wait 2 more months to plant.

We start an early garden with taters and greens,etc... this year we put out some early tomatoes
with this nifty water filled T-P that works great as long as there is no hard freeze.
We plant 3 gardens of various sizes.
15 years of horse manure in this one!  ;)

Tracey has a yard full of flowers and ornamental stuff.

Looks nice and fertile Rob. We've not had any rain for a few weeks, every where is bone dry, I'll have to get the hose on the lawn tomorrow, give it a good drink. ;D

Looks good RM I hope ours will look as good in few years, ours is not as big and 4 times as rocky, to clean mine up I need my tiller working, but I need it fixed and I may have to break down and take it to someone I can't get a wheel off that needs repair I got one off but the other no, I know how to do it and I have the tools but my goddam hands are too sore, we've a lady that gets us well aged horse puckies about a concession away and a guy that has a fence post business that brings us cedar mulch for reasonable cost about the same distance away, this weekend is a long weekend and only going to rain on Saturday so the kids are coming up to help plant things so hopefully most of the cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, radishes, etc, I won't do much except run around and get beer, planting supplies and what ever else is needed, oh yeah and help pick up my 3 basket case bikes and bring them home.

This year no pumpkins :o  To dam much work!

I replanted my cherry and plum trees and built a bit of a netted cover so the birds don't get at them this year.
I also have my little stash of  mini cherry tomatoes, green peppers, hot peppers, cucumbers, strawberries and raspberries ;D

They are dwarf trees, but I will probably have to raise the cover in a year or so. 8ft?
I got cherrys of them last summer when they were still in pots ;D

i got home for a few hours this afternoon to feed critters and let the dog out and i picked about a dozen cherry tomatoes and some jalapenos and i made and jarred some salsa. the apple tree has a huge amount of fruit as well as the blueberries, figs and grapes. looks like it'll be a good year if i can keep after it all. i have a neighbor running sprinklers for me if i'm not home since it's now in the mid 90's during the day here. turning the a/c on before i head back out too.

the first of the big boy tomatoes (variety of large red tomatoes) are starting to turn red now, the smallest of the ones beginning to ripen are close to the size of a baseball already! these things are going to be giant this year! this is the first year i've used both aged (1-1 1/2 years old) and fresh horse manure. i also tilled some vermiculite into the garden this year before planting. when i get home tonight i'll be picking a few of the first japanese eggplant and i'll grill them along with the gator tail meat i'm grilling. i've pre-ordered my collard green seedlings and 18 of those will be going into the ground in july or so, that way i'll have them well into the new year.

I built a raised bed for my wife.  This is what it looked like a few weeks ago.  The tomato and squash plants are much bigger now, but i am too lazy to go shoot a pic.

i have a pot of sauce on the stove, made with tomatoes and onions and herbs from my garden. the only thing NOT from my garden in the sauce is the garlic, i've never had very good luck with garlic. i had some roasted japanese eggplant from my garden last night. u just brush it with a garlic infused olive oil i  make and throw it on the grill. high heat 2 minutes each side.

Bucky our Garlic cloves were small but lasted a long time in our "cold room", we had one poured when foundation was put in, I figure that it was because we put them in late, and this was first time I've used a cold rm but it kept our onions all winter any how a bunch of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower went in yesterday, my wife did the planting while I screened dirt for the carrot bed I get the "Brute force and Ignorance jobs" and chum for biting bugs, now at 0730 I'll start watering.
