Rear brake panel stopper bolt, 1972 CB750
« on: May 06, 2010, 01:35:20 PM »
I took the rear wheel off for the first time a month or so ago to have a new tire mounted. When I went to reinstall several weeks after taking it apart, I cannot find the part that I think is called "rear brake panel stopper bolt" -- at least thats what the downloadable Honda Service manual calls it.  That manual is the only place I have seen a decent picture and description of whats going on there. I've tried looking for the parts on the different parts fiche sites I've found links to so I can purchase replacements, but can't find them listed.  It looks like its an 8mm screw (or maybe shoulder screw) with spring washer, flat washer, nut, and lock pin.  If I can find a screw, washers, etc that fit (say at an industrial fasteners store locally) can I safely substitute them?

I assume you're talking about the shouldered bolt that connects to the brake drum arm. If so go back to those parts fiches and look in the swingarm section it would be part number 14 or 15 depending on the one you need. Good Luck
