Honda CB350F Chain Guard Question
« on: May 07, 2010, 06:02:03 PM »
Hello:

Fixing up my 1972 CB350F I've noticed something about the chain guard that I don't understand.

There is an indentation to clear the left rear shock.   But just below that indentation is a hole where a screw has been.

Babbits' fiche show this as number 2 and calls it a plug.  See photo attached.

Can anybody elaborate?  My chain guard just had the hole with no bolt or plug present.  Thanks, Don

Just checked my '74 and it has a rubber plug there which seems to cushion the guard from the shock.

HondaNutRider:

I think you are quite correct that this was a rubber plug.  Probably the chain guard to shock clearance was so close that they wanted a little bumper between the two.  Since it is well hidden behind the shock, I think I'll just glue on a little patch of oil proof rubber.

Thanks for the help.

Maybe if you're in London we'll meet one day.  I'm at Western pretty frequently, twice a week.  Don

I'm not in London very much these days.  I grew up in Woodstock many years ago, so was used to dropping over there at that time.  My place is now north-east of Toronto.  However, if ever you get the chance, keep me in mind.  I'll do the same - take care and ask any question about your 350 Four.
