DOHC question
« on: May 11, 2010, 12:53:30 PM »
Hi all,
I've been offered a *free* 1979 CB750 engine (RC04E code on engine).  I believe this is a DOHC.  Engine is claimed to be low miles (~5k).
Opinions please!

Thanks,
Rob

If you mean 'free' as in stolen, just turn the thief in
If free as in no money, why are you asking, (unless you have no storage?)
No, it probably isn't worth a lot
Personally, I found them more reliable than the 900

well, ok
would it fit a SOHC frame?
Would it be worthwhile to screw around with (i.e. faster, more reliable, lighter, etc)?
Does anyone here want it?

Won't really mount up directly to a SOHC frame, but anything can work if you want it to.  How about making a 67hp go kart?

They just don't have the cache the single cammers do.

For the effort of putting it in a single cammers frame, just build up an old single cammer.

MC,
That was my default position and the input hasn't really moved me off of that.
Anyone want a free DOHC engine? low miles, can pick up in Harrisonburg, VA within the next month or 2.  Would love a set of F spoked wheels as consideration, but that's up to you.

I was thinking 750SOHC in a newer DOHC 750F bike.
