A Thought For Axl
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:09:28 pm »
It was just over 12 months ago (25th April 2009) that our buddy Axl left us, doing what he loved doing.
Would like to share a quiet thought for him.

May the wind always pass gently over your handlebars Axl.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
If you love it, set it free, if it stays it's probably one of my 750's.

Google Satanic Mechanic...kind of a legend really in terms of knowledge and skill. I think his site is still up and running but not really maintained anymore. I would have assumed that someone would have picked it up but IIRC last time I checked it hadn't been touched.

RIP

Axl was an early participant on the SOHC/4 mailing list.  I met him there back in the mid-90's and will always remember him as a really good guy.

With regard to his Satanic Mechanic site, there was a big effort last year to keep the site going and that was successful.  A friend of the family in Germany is keeping the site running.  I don't expect it to change much - it is Axl's work and a pretty complete reference guide to the custom chassis for the CB750 motor.

Very good news Glenn.

Last time I checked on his forum I was very glad to see the spam BS cleaned up. Is there a link to contact the new administrator and thank him for his efforts?
