Good work Domer. I think this tells us that now, at the least, someone needs a

FREE (hopefully), YES FREE Corbin seat for their 77 or 78 CB750K.

All you have to do is drop it off at Corbin and leave it for a couple months. You may even be able to get a loaner bike!

First come first served - If you have a 77-78 750K and you'd like the new FREE seat please send an email to Greg@corbin.com and please cc it to me at GeraldJGriffin@gmail.com. The impression I got was they want to do a seat for EACH of the different K models, not just the earlier ones.

C'mon!  I'd ride that far for a free seat.  I know that it's such an ugly part of the country and everything. ;D

Nice pictures! Can you confirm a few things?

Is that gel? Looks like it might be.

Looks definitely geared for 1-up riding. Would they do a version for 2-up? Or is this suitable in a way I can't easily visualize?

No confirmations possible yet. This is all I know. Two Tired will have it home soon and will check in I'm sure. Looks to me like it can do 2 up.

I doubt they will do anything else for the F's unless you take your bike in for a one-off. This is a production seat ready to order.

The trip is planned for tomorrow.

It's funny to see my bike posted with pictures I didn't take.   ;D
I told them I had new in the box tank and side covers for the bike, for when they wanted pictures.  But, they don't seem to care.  ???

Anyway, the black portions of the seat are soft.  A person can certainly sit on there.

The passenger will have keep forward on the seat though, or their coccyx will hit the plastic cowl.  I think that is why the stock seat has a duck tail near the cowl, for padding and passenger registration forward of the cowl.

Jeez, I'm gonna have to get that bike road worthy, now.  ;D
Anybody got that plastic chain guard part for behind the frame?

That seat is growing on me too!  It looks great! When can we order one? Did they throw in the chrome trim plugs or do we need to find them our selves? BTW I will give $20 plus shipping for all your stock original crack free 750f seats and trim! To offset the price of your new seat! ;D N.America only!

No details yet. I'm hoping to work out a SOHC4.com discount for our members too. What might look nice would be to cut off and use the back portions of the seat trim pieces.

We need to find someone that can make the color strips for the trim pieces!! Any ideas on this? It looks like 3M adhesive to me.

Great seat.  Is the seat complete or do you have to reuse your old cowl?

I believe that you will have to send them your seat pan and cowl...possibly just the pan though?

If you look close, that cowl is NOT a new piece. I recently posted pics of my new to me Corbin/Gentry seat and on that I swapped my cowl piece over. Took about 10 minutes. Also, spoke w/ Corbin last week, they said a regular gunfighter is $369 but they may be charging $399 to offset the tooling costs of the new seat.
So much to do, so little time.

I got the bike home and off loaded today today just before dark.

They used my old cowl, and do not plan to supply one with the new seat.  It is up to the buyer to patch holes and repaint or find a trim strip or buttons to hide where the original trim went on the cowl.  One option might be to cut the original and remount.  Any other suggestions?
It was interesting to note that the cowl is distorted where the trim mount posts are, which changes the contour of the lower bit of cowl.

Its a pretty nice seat.  Firm, but I'm told that body heat will make it conform and get more comfortable with time in the seat.  The depressed part, has a carbon fiber finish to it.  The contoured higher section is finished in what they called asphalt texture  (maybe that's assfalt, I just heard Greg say it I didn't see it printed. :-) )  Anyway, it sure looks like a bit of brand new roadway.

I'll take some close up picture in tomorrow's light of day (after a dental appointment).  I'll also try the seat out on my 77 Fs to verify fit onto the general populace.  If my runner will cooperate I'll ride around some, (even if it does oil my boot).

Anything else you need to know about the seat, post a request.  (I never did ask what price they were going to sell them.  But, I got a tour and took a bunch of pics in the plant.)

During the tour, I got the impression that the color and texture of the seat covering can be specified.  But, I think the pan and foam contour are fixed by a mold.  I took pics of similar molds.  I should probably make a separate thread about my Corbin tour and post pictures.  I doubt I can remember everything Greg said during the tour though.

Cheers,

Lloyd... (SOHC4 #11 Original Mail List)

It appears the seating portion, besides conforming and warming to the butt as TT says, has the waffle texture to it. This massages the butt and is more comfortable than smooth vinyl or leather. It is hard to confirm this in the picture, but i can't imagine its not true as that is one of the claims to fame of most aftermarket seats these days.
