Please Help Identify This Tank
« on: May 14, 2010, 08:10:46 PM »
Hiya,

I'm trying to identify the tank in this photo.

The bike is a CB650 and I thought that the tank was from a '79 but upon seeing a '79 tank in person it can't be since the '79 has the side panel mounting grommet as part of the tank.  Anyone recognize it?

Thanks!

Yup you guessed right the first time, 79 CB650Z model.
Someone has neatly glassed over the badge mounts though.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Hmmm.... interesting.  In that case, can you identify the tank in THIS photo?  I was told it was a '79 650 tank but as you can see doesn't fit.  The slot that fits over the frame is too narrow and it's several inches too long.  More like a 750 or 900 DOHC tank.  Man that's feebay for you.  Not only did it take like three weeks for it to ship it, but it's not even the right tank! ??? >:(

Yeah that second tank is a DOHC tank either from a C or a K bike.
